A dyin' breed.
...with a Florida fan. He of course pointed to 41-14, our "weak" schedule, etc. It went back and forth for a little while, until I posted this:

That game was 4 years ago. Congratulations, Florida caught us with our pants down, even though our best player played 1 play (a 94 yard kick-off return where he smoked 11 guys with "SEC speed") before he was injured, our team hadn't played ...in 55 days, and Florida had 8 weeks to hear how #1 undefeated Ohio State was going to walk all over them. It was a recipe for disaster. CONGRATULATIONS.
If you want to talk about the past, let's do so. Ohio State has twice as many national championships, twice as many heisman winners, twice as many concensus all americans, 40 more conference championships, more wins, and a higher winning percentage, and more bowl games. Still feel superior? Oh yeah, fall back on that mighty conference that's been at the top of the hill for a 7 or 8 years.
As for our schedule argument, Appalachian State is still Division I-AA. Simple as that.
"You only have 4 away games." Right. Hi pot, I'm kettle, nice to meecha! Florida also only has 4 away games. Big programs like Florida and Ohio State are always going to have more home games than away games. It's because Fencing and Women's Field Hockey have to get paid for somehow. And it's not the $5 price of admission to those events, it's 105,000 people (or 88k, in Florida's case) filling the stadium, buying hotdogs and paying for parking that does it.
Oh, and congratulations on Florida's big victory over Iowa in the OUTBACK BOWL. They crushed Iowa....by 7. I guess if you wanna hang your hat on barely squeaking by a slow, plodding team from the Big10, go ahead. Iowa was penalized 8 times in that game. Florida...not once. I'm not one to blame refs for an outcome, but 8-0 is kinda fishy, no? It's funny you mention the 2005 Outback Bowl, and ask me to do better than Florida's last OOC away game, the Syracuse game. Okay, since you referenced the Outback Bowl, let's talk about 2006/2007. Ohio State held Michigan to 3 points in The Game, then Michigan turns around and hangs 41 on your mighty Gators and wins the Capital One Bowl, played in Orlando, Florida! Hahaha!
Florida is a powerhouse. Now that they have an Ohio born-and-bred man in Urban Meyer at the helm, they'll be good for a very long time. The SEC is a great conference, I was salivating when there were talks of Texas joining. The Big10 has had a few years of rough bowl seasons, but last season was great (especially Penn State over LSU) and it appears as if they're getting it turned around. That said, all the talk of Ohio State and the Big10 being significantly inferior to the SEC is ridiculous.
Since you're a history guy, let's see how you justify Ohio State being statistically better in wins, winning bowl wins, national titles, conference titles, All-Americans, Heisman winners. Also justify that Michigan loss 3 years ago, that should be fun.

I was proud of myself for a little research. It's a good feeling that, even when times aren't the best as a Buckeye fan, you can fall back on years of tradition and excellence that this great program has provided.
Go Bucks! :osu:
