@cincibuck
Again you are buying into the hype machine.
Here are my questions:
1. What has he won? ever?
2. If the name of his team was MSU with the exact same credentials would you think they should be talked about going to NC game.
3. Comparing Harball to Woody is insulting and ridiculous, Woody was a classic and a closer, Harball has proven to be nothing more than an eccentric loon who can win games but not big games
4. And one more time. What has he won? What results has he had that makes you think he is a closer? A C-L-O-S-E-R.......(SLOW MOTION)
5. The fact is he is a BO clone so far, can win games and bully teams, but can not coach a team game day and make the adjustments in game to win the big games.
I am all for given him credit for being a good coach who can take bad teams and make them relevant quickly. But he has issues. It is either he lacks the patience and faith to win key big games, he lacks the emotional maturity needed to win big games, or he just can not coach big moments. All of his losses at SCum (except UTAH which I do not remember) have either been an arse whooping or getting completely out coached and dominated in the 4th quarter.
My initial thoughts are that he wants to win so badly that he plays not to lose at the end of games and stops coaching. That he is overcome with the game anxiety and is not maintaining the proper perspective. It is as if his emotional need to win and be called a winner makes him unable to perform in big games. This of course can change and he can mature and learn this skill. But right now I have seen ZERO and I do mean ZERO evidence that he is capable of that level of maturity. The guys so wants recruits to like him he is sleeping on kids floors and acting like he is a 16 year old male at times. And then other times is throwing tantrums that are costing his team. At the end of the day a coach coaches and players play and some coaches forget that they are not the ones winning and losing. It is there job to main the helm and keep the program sailing straight but to never get too attached to what is happening on the field. Keep calm and keep your eye on the opportunities to put the program in position to win games and grow the program.
I realize my hatred for SCum on some level clouds my judgement. But when I sit down and change the team names or in this case compare Jokes first 2 years to Harballs I begin to ask myself what is the difference besides belts sizes and personalities. Joke was so overwhelmed with SCums history that he could not function half the time. And Harball is so overwhelmed by his own narcissistic self love to have a team follow him more than 4 years.
