SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

Of course, I am convinced the only team that tub of goo ever practiced for was Ohio State...
You will never convince me that's not why they did this:

2013
Bye Week
L 29-6 @MSU
L 17-13 Nebraska
W 27-19 @Northwestern (3OT)
L 24-21 @Iowa

2014
W 10-9 @Northwestern
Bye Week
L 23-16 Maryland

Leading up to OSU his final two years before inexplicably playing well against us.

I had no idea this wonderful thread existed......here is my post from the Buckeye football forum I think it belongs here.

BTW I have been having a rather heated discussion with some members of the DFBIA and I am wondering what you guys think.

I think Urban is the best coach in college football. I actually think he is better than Saban. But Saban is the greatest program builder I have ever seen and can recruit. I just think Saban has it pretty good running his semi-pro squad down in Bama and he is not really playing on a level playing field with the rest of the world. And also he is a douche bag. Don't get me wrong I love my man MD but Urban is on another level.

Urban has won big everywhere he has coached. And won in the SEC (hear the angels sing). He has done it with different tweaks in offense and defense. He just knows how to coach and win. He has owned the B10 since his arrival and will play in his 2nd NC tournament and honestly his 1st year he was 12-0 and so I kind of feel he deserved some kind of cudo for that season.

But my discussion revolves around old khaki pants. I am just not sold he is a top 5 coach. Is he good, yeah he is good. But look at his big game choke jobs. He has 5 regular season loses.

- Utah - I give him a pass, first game team was way way sideways
- MSU blocked punt game - his team gave it away
- OSU - can you say beat down
- Iowa - again another choke job
- OSU - How can you say a guy is a good coach when his in game adjustments are so bad in big games? His team had 5 yards in the 4th quarter and 36 yards total after the 3rd quarter ended. And he cost his team 15 yards for being a DB on the sidelines. So net 21 yards....

I agree that he has taken the program from a dumpster fire to pretty solid in a crazy quick time. But where is it headed? They just lost their whole starting Defense. The offense still can not run against real programs, and he has the creativity of a rock. This was the last year that SCum in the next couple will go into the USO game as not a huge underdog. OSU was as down as they can be this year. Literally the 3rd youngest team in NCAA football. And yet SCum with a senior laden team and multiple ALL Americans on Defense gets just housed in the 4th quarter and in OT?

I think Khaki is a weird uniquely driven coach. I just am waiting for him to finish the deal. It has not happened anywhere. I am beginning to think he is the Larry Brown of football. He can win but no one can stand to have him around too long. Or he just needs to keep moving. A good coach but will never be considered great. Time will tell. But he is now 1-3 in rivalry games. And should be 3-1.......or at least 2-2. I mean OSU begged SCum to win that game this past weekend and they refused to take it so the Bucks snatched it.

I don't necessarily disagree, but am curious - Who else would you rank above him besides Meyer and Saban? Dabo? Jimbo? Somebody else with "Bo" at the end of their name?

I agree his game adjustments are not as good as our staff's, but very few others are.

i really have to applaud harbaugh in creating the postgame atmosphere. the sleight of hand is impressive. his tabloid-worthy rants have shifted the discussions about the true reasons for the loss (see: player mistakes and coaching decisions) almost completely to the officiating. he knows the media and he knows his blue idolators.

i can't wait to witness his shuckery next november.

In college football:

Dantonio has been solid but that is my guy, and a homer pick (think of him as a Tressel lite)

But sticking with active coaches:

Stoops at Oklahoma
Fisher at FSU (yes, but he won a NC)
Dabo at Clemson yeah he is goofy also
Peterson at Washington (is he off Urban tree?)
Mike Leach (Ok a reach but he is my guilty pleasure, a complete nut job but gets it done)
Les Miles I truly believe he is better, guy could rally a team, a vintage player coach for sure

I mean honestly, Khaki makes noise but I am still waiting for the big win. The crowning moment. That one shining moment. He has won literally nothing. He is loud and obnoxious and has a cult like following but what has he won? Name it. I could name 40 guys who have the same level of excellence. Mike Leach is likely a great comparison. I quirky strange dude who can win games but not championships. I am not trying to be thickheaded. I am merely asking what has he done so much better than Mark Dantonio? Name it. I just using his name because everyone just rubber stamps that Khaki is better. But I am looking around and looking for the results.

Winning ain't easy. And winning Championships is damn near impossible. So I am just blown away by the way many act like it is not a question of IF he will win a NC but WHEN. And the guys has yet to play in a major bowl. Or win his league.

It is easy to see that Urban and Saban are heads and shoulders above the rest of college football. I am just do not see Khaki as in the the next tier of say 10-15 yet. He has to win and/or build a consistent winner. He leaves Stanford when his QB gets drafted, leaves NFL after basically a team mutiny, and now settles in at his old school that he trashed when he was at Standford. And again has yet to win anything.

I have a feeling that over the next 5 years if he stays at SCum his record against OSU will be 0-5 and against MSU 2-3. MSU just laid down on this season and yet still was in that game score wise in the end. SCum should have trucked MSU this year.

Gundy, Wilson, and Cutcliffe are all top shelf in my book.

He's the other one I thought of, but I would like to see him sustain success for a while in the PAC.

I see your point, but I'd add that I'd like to see HairbaLL sustain success anywhere. It's been the quick turnaround for a year or two and then out the door, with I might add the former employer more than happy to watch those overstuffed (ass not dick) khakis head on down the road.
