Correction: THREE straight NFC Championship appearances. For a once proud, success-starved franchise that had been dead in the water for over a decade. One 8-8 season and they couldn't boot him out of town fast enough. He was such a galactic-scale asshole that the players essentially quit on him in 2014. As a fan, I watched every game; that team did not give a solitary shit about winning those games. They were checked out.

Lends credence to my theory that the former SF front office guy who was the GM in Minnesota when he interviewed dragged him up there and made him sit around all day just to humiliate and fuck with him for what he did in SF. Why on earth was that guy going to seriously consider hiring Simple Jim.

There were articles written by a prominent Niners beat journalist back around that time outlining the level of disfunction Simple Jim had fostered in the locker room and with the front office. It was astounding.

Also the University clearly has no spine and was bowing down to the NCAA but they are suddenly going to grow the spine to fucking SUE the NCAA if they try to pass down any further punishment? That makes sense. Only to DFBIA.

A job like that, at a school like that should be lifetime, highly compensated employment for anyone. The one good one they found managed to put up with that idiot for ~2 years.

I hope they got their rocks off on this little 2-3 year post covid manipulation era of success because the book is about to shut on this chapter. Hard.
