SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

"I'd do it for free. I would do this job for free. I just love it," Harbaugh said last week of taking a pay reduction to stay on at Michigan. "Whether it's the first day, first game, or position we're in now, which we're very -- feel really happy about that. I guess I've just enjoyed the ride the whole time. Every day is a blessing, and happy for it and blessed for it."

Just sayin': If I was Warde (Manuel, the Michigan athletic director) I'd take him up on that offer.....

Hairball: "I'd do it for free. I would do this job for free. I just love it..."

Columbo. "I see. Well, that's all I need for now." Turns, heads for door, takes a few steps then stops, turns back around. "One last question. Something is still puzzling me. If you love this job, how come you're always rumored to be looking for a job in the NFL and how come you took National Signing Day to take an interview with the Vikings? I mean if you love the job, is that what you do? I'm confused here."

Just a business note here real quick regarding St Jim of the lost baseball:

He'd do it for free because of the way he gets paid right now. He gets some base salary or what not but most of his compensation is deferred in the form of a high cash value life insurance policy. The school pays the premiums for him (usually financed), he pays some small tax on that but the policy is his when he retires (or at any point in time he wants to access it). The money inside that policy can be withdrawn tax free and the death benefit will pay off his estate tax.

So "I'd do it for free" is easy to say when you have already made millions, and have many more millions waiting for you later in life that can be accessed (essentially) tax free.

Mrs. Harbaugh (or whoever worked that deal for Jim) is no dummy. That's one of the inside moves of the high net worth types that most people don't even know exists or have access to if they do.

Fun fact, that cash in a life insurance policy can't be taken in a lawsuit/divorce. #wardamneagle
