Michigan Football: What the hell is happening with Jim Harbaugh?
The strategy of waiting until after the season to talk to Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh about his contract is baffling and could kill recruiting.
The big news of the day Tuesday for the Michigan football program was the announcement that the Wolverines would not be heading to Columbus for the game this Saturday.
After missing last week’s game against Maryland and what sounds like a pretty extensive outbreak within the Michigan program, it wasn’t a huge shock to see it called off.
What was shocking though, was listening to Warde Manuel say that he and Jim Harbaugh would meet at the end of the season to discuss his contract. This comes in spite of the fact that solid sources and multiple outlets are reporting a three-year extension currently on the table.
Obviously, I didn’t really expect Manuel and Harbaugh to address the contract issue in that zoom call but what was said wasn’t good for Michigan football.
Early signing day is literally a week away and after Harbaugh went around and told recruits he was getting an extension, that now appears to be up in the air. When asked if he was worried about negative recruiting, Manuel basically shrugged it off saying it happens all the time.
What all this means for recruiting?
Well, sure, negative recruiting does happen all the time, but do Manuel and Harbaugh realize they are asking recruits to sign next week not knowing if Harbaugh will be around?
If you went in for a job interview and the manager or whatever told you they might be gone by the time you start work, you’d probably be a little hesitant, not knowing who the new boss might be.
This same thing is now happening on the recruiting trail and there are already plenty of reasons to be worried.
Xavier Worthy, at this point, is gone. It was unlikely Michigan football held onto his commitment anyway, but there is zero chance he signs with this much uncertainty in my opinion. He also has a tight relationship with Josh Gattis who could be on his way out.
Yet, there are other recruits to be worried about. EJ Holland of Rivals reported ($) that Jaydon Hood and Branden Jennings will not be signing early, leaving open the possibility of a flip for each.
Then, not long after Michigan football held its zoom conference, three-star safety Rod Moore, a commitment from Ohio and a good one at that, tweeted this:
Moore did tweet just last week that he was planning to sign with the Wolverines on Dec. 16 but there has been some worry about him and he will be another commitment to watch.

3 NFL Teams Crazy Enough to Hire Jim Harbaugh
The Michigan Wolverines have had a truly terrible season, and it looks like the team's marriage with head coach Jim Harbaugh could be coming to an end. Harbaugh had prior college success at Stanford and NFL success with the San Francisco 49ers, but he's been unable to help Michigan win its biggest games.
Harbaugh is expected to pursue an NFL gig again if he does leave the Wolverines. Even though his Michigan tenure may end poorly, these three teams could be crazy enough to take a chance on Harbaugh as their head coach.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars
With the Jacksonville Jaguars racking up repeated losing seasons and a dismal 1-11 record this year, Doug Marrone is likely on his way out. Hiring Harbaugh would be a splashy move, but it also makes sense. The Jaguars made the AFC Championship in 2017 thanks to a defense that ranked second in fewest points and yards allowed. Harbaugh is a coach that values defense, with his 49ers teams ranking in the top 10 for fewest points and yards allowed in each of his four seasons in San Francisco. Harbaugh could help bring a defensive identity back to Jacksonville.
2. New York Jets
The New York Jets would be smart to move on from head coach Adam Gase after their miserable season. Harbaugh could be the big-name hire that injects some life back into the team. Harbaugh's teams are known for their grit, and he would bring that to the Jets, who have been accustomed to being bullied by teams around the league in recent years. Hiring Harbaugh would be a way to generate some excitement for a team that's been on a downward trend. And if the Jets land Trevor Lawrence, Harbaugh's reputation as a QB-friendly coach gives another reason as to why this is a great fit.
1. Detroit Lions
The Matt Patricia era in Detroit is finally over, and the Lions should look at Harbaugh to replace him. Harbaugh's connection with the state of Michigan runs deep, as his dad, Jack, coached both Michigan and Western Michigan. Harbaugh also played quarterback at the University of Michigan before being a first-round draft pick. The pairing between the Lions and Harbaugh just makes sense. He would bring a hard-nosed mentality that Detroit fans are sure to appreciate, and he'd be eager to challenge other NFC North teams for the division crown each year.

Wanna make $14 the hard way?
Uh, isn't their season now over? No Game this weekend, no trip to Indy (again), they can't realistically think they're going to a bowl at 2-4, can they?
If you think about it, Jimbo'd be crazy to go in and ask for an extension and Manuel would be crazy togrant him one, but yet, here we are. To me, it feels like Manuel is sitting there, hoping that Jimbo makes the decision for him. Jimbo is sitting back, hoping the administration makes the first move. Quite a thrilling game of chicken going on up there. (And after yesterday's decision, that's literally correct.)

I could be wrong but i'm assuming he meant after the entire college football season.
They could very well be in a bowl, since theyve already said everyone is bowl eligible regardless of record this season. Depends on how many bowl games actually dont get cancelled though
