BTW...the game, when playable, is actually fun. Just sucks they were so unprepared.
Hey, your city looks awesome. Mine is not as aesthetically pleasing, but I focused mainly on unlocking things, which should help the whole region. I have lots of coal and ore, but I haven't seen smelting equip and may not have room for it, so if someone wants to try it, go for it. I also have a pile of reclaimed materials from recycling I can't use yet (all but plastic); I saw somewhere that those materials might be useful for a Great Work. I can also lend some service trucks (fire, police) to help someone get started. The advisers suggest I ask someone in the region to build low-wealth residential and commercial areas as I have jobs and tons of goods to sell them, so if anyone is interested, we can see if that balances well.

There is a passenger train connection. I also have a university the region can use, but I wasn't thinking that way, and it's on the wrong end of the city. It's closed for now as I upgrade other things, as is the Metals HQ, which I think also has regional benefits.

Perhaps one advantage of waiting for the Mac launch will be that they have some of these issues ironed out. We can only hope...

Maybe I should have done the same. I have a gaming PC, but this is a perfect game for my laptop and I have a Macbook Air (which I actually consider the only Mac price competitive).

Side note, it runs really well on my Macbook Air and I am not even playing on the lowest settings. I planned on doing some benchmarks, but I haven't been able to log in enough. Yet if you only have an integrated GPU like the HD4000 on my Air, its plenty enough to play this game.

Thanks, but I think it should be WAS awesome. I don't even think you got to see it at it's height which was cool with lots of skyscrapers. Then I screwed it all up with that water issue. I actually had a much better aesthetic idea in mind but the needs of the city kind of screwed it up. I think I will do much better with my next town, although my idea for setup is slightly different (I am thinking sort of a clamshell setup, we shall see how it goes).

Oh well, I did add a fair amount to the region with my initial town. People can add not only education but a bunch of other stuff I did that you wouldn't normally see without it (there are unlocks that require one town to do it, and of course since I was the first town you won't realize it's an unlock). People can also take advantage of my overflow which can come in real handy if you are focused on one aspect of your town. There are many times I wished I had another town to help me with garbage, or raw materials, or especially water but I needed to spend a ton of money on my own infrastructure to solve the issue.

5 hours in I have finally started a map. Of course, half of my avenues do not allow any zoning to be placed alongside them, even though they are very widely spaced apart.

Killer work, EA.

I played it yesterday without in game issues at all.... I know on some level, the game works.. I dont know wtf is up with the servers and the misloading of the game, but when you can actually get in, it's good.

That being said.... FUCK you EA

I ran into the zoning issue on one of my avenues. It was only a small part of my town and I built all my city resources on it. That is clearly a bug that needs to be fixed (the funny thing is I actually could zone on the middle of the street at the intersection so I had a few houses in the middle of the road).

Well, I peeked in on my city a bit ago and found the whole thing crawling with those "this is creepy" symbols around places too many people have died. Apparently a disaster struck my sewage plant either while I was offline, or maybe minimized. That ruined the water supply, which stopped the coal plant, which shut off the power...

It would be like pirating a MMO. Someone would need to have their own servers and somehow emulate the offloaded calculations done in SimCity (which they never see). It just cannot be done without a team of programmers and tons of money. Even then they would just be guessing at the code. Either that or they input their own code and it really wouldn't be the same game. It would take tons of effort to pirate this game.

That's what was said about the Greco Player Tracker.

I tried to play from 8-11 last night and only saw a bunch of error messages. Maybe my license was only for 1st shift gaming.

I'll try again tonight.

How do i join your guys region?
I think scott91575 has to add you once he can see you in the SimCity Friends panel, and there seems to be some delay between that and Origins - maybe it's a server thing. I have access to the region, but don't see the invite option, so it must limited to founders.

I couldn't play at all yesterday pretty much so I basically went to bed as soon as I got home from work at 8pm last night. I was up trying to play at 4am and was able to play for a bit until I visited another city only to have it crash on me.
