I don't know if anybody has any solid info on the grade situation. Don't be worried about WVU, if we want him/he qualifies then he's ours guaranteed. We also had five coaches in San Antonio today and they met with Gibson after the game.

I think he is saying that having WVU high on his list is indicative of poor grades, not that WVU is a threat.

Kid is super fast. He should have had a TD today but his QB sucked it up on the goal line.

The Defense is set. One more playmaker like Gibson in this class would just set the offense off. Jalin will be playing immediately and if Gibson can get his route running down, he could be an early contributor as well.

If anyone had info on something as important as his grades they'd have posted it here...your question is tantamount to asking "any updates?" which is forbidden. As far as "Are they a potential issue", if you've been following his recruitment you'd know that they are the only issue right now...if his grades were good, he'd already be a Buckeye.

We should be looking at another playmaker besides Gibson. Especially with losing out on quick. Gibson will be the priority but we should definitely be after corn elder as well. You never can have enough playmakers. These kids arent in college yet, we dont know how they'll mature in a few years. We need reserves im case someone doesn't pan out and just depth in general with speed wouldn't hurt at all. I see gibson as possible rs, in order to get bigger, and I would like to see jalin in a college system, comfortable in a new position before im ready to see hes definitely going to get early pt

Marshall, Elliot, Jacobs and Barrett are all playmakers. Add in Gibson and
that is 5 playmakers on Offense in one class. Not sure that we "need" one
more to the list. It would be nice but not a need imho.

I'm not sure anyone here knows what exactly is the cutoff. You can almost be sure that a score of 15 or 16 wont cut it. National average is around 21-22 and tOSU freshman profile middle 50% is 26-30 composite.

Those are pretty high averages. When I was in high school, a 25-27 could get you into Ohio State easily, and that was only 6 years ago.

I don't know whether the sliding scale has changed since it first came out during 2003, but this link shows what combination of core GPA and SAT/ACT a prospective student-athlete would need.

In Gibson's case, if 3.1 is indeed his core GPA (the reported GPA is often the overall GPA, which is frequently higher than the core GPA the NCAA uses), he would need a 49 on his ACT or a 580 on the SAT. The number for the ACT is the sum of all 4 sections, whereas the composite (average) score of the 4 sections is what is often reported. In this case, a 49 equates to a 12.25 average.

Of course, OSU may very well have higher standards than the NCAA minima, but this at least provides the bare minimum a student-athlete needs.

580 on the SAT would mean about 300 on math and 300 on reading. For reference, a student would get a score of 400 just by writing his/her name on the test. In short, a score of 580 is terrible.

Therefore, one can conclude (looking at the chart) that SAT scores are only complementary. 3.55 GPA and a score of 400 SAT means that you literally can sleep during test day. Of course these qualifications are the bare minimum, so OSU standards should be higher.
