Sharrif Floyd (official thread)

BN $ - Winds Of Change

11/4

By BK...says he could see himself playing at OSU after his visit for the Minnesota game...all official visits have been postponed until after his senior season...his coach thinks he is high on USC, Florida and OSU with South Carolina, UNC and Nebraska [and to a lesser extent PSU] also in the picture.

We are in the ballgame and that is all you can ask for right now. Now let's hope we can land this one.

Floyd sets his UNC visit

By Phil Kornblut
DL Sharrif Floyd (6-3 311) of Philadelphia has set his official visit with North Carolina for the weekend of December 11th. Floyd has taken official visits to Florida, Southern Cal and Ohio State. He's been to Penn State unofficially, and he plans to work in an official visit to USC after his season is over. Floyd has not identified a favorite and he plans to announce his decision at the US Army All American Game in January.

Scout.com: Floyd Knows Where He's Going (free)

Talk about five-star defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd has run rampant on message boards around the country for weeks now, so Scout.com went to watch he and his George Washington teammates play in the Public League semifinal game against Bartram on Saturday night.

Sharrif Floyd talked to Scout.com on Saturday night and told us that his top five schools include Florida, USC, Ohio State, North Carolina, South Carolina and Penn State. Obviously, that is six schools and with Floyd that is the way it's been in recruiting as he plays things very close to the chest and knows how to play the game the right way, not giving anything away. One thing he did let us know on Saturday night is that he already knows where he's going and you can watch the interview below.

Continued...

Hmmm...

This would be huge. Not to mention everything great about Ohio State and the way people fall in love when they come here, he has to be really impressed with the d-line play and has to be thinking about what he could do here.

Heard from my Florida guy, who is usually spot on, that:
Shaw to Florida
Floyd to OSU

He's rarely been wrong in the past 5 years or so.
I hope so. But, and call me a skeptic, don't sleep on UNC. Butchie has that defense playing at a high level and he's a good recruiter. I could be way off base, but I'm not getting too excited about Floyd until the ink touches the paper.

I would take that trade. Obviously both would be great but the writing is on the wall for Shaw anyways. But if I had to pick, I would say Floyd for sure...we absolutely need at least 1 DT in this class and Floyd is as good as they come.

If you think about it, we kind of swapped Floyd and Shaw with Florida. UF fans were VERY confident about Floyd around the same time we were VERY confident with Shaw. If I had to pick one too, I would take Floyd, and they would probably take Shaw. They'll need DBs when Haden leaves, and we'll need DL-men (especially a big, nasty DT) when we lose a lot of our depth this year. So, it kind of worked out pretty well on both accounts if you ask me :)
