Even if we don't land Floyd, we will be fine. Didn't land all those guy's and we've played in 5 straight BCS game, 2 national title games, and like 101010 Big 10 championships. The train will continue to roll....

You are right we would continue to roll, but it would be much easier to continue this trend with difference makers like Shareef on board.

and if im correct we lost 3 of those BCS games 2 of them being national championship games....we need to recruit top talent when it is available to us to get over the hump and be more competitive in these games

Biggest difference between this year's team and the past few? A dominant O-Line. We're already looking good with young guys like Williams, Simon, Goebel, etc., but I want Sharrif.

true and we also have a more dominant D-Line...something we have been lacking and could of used against LSU...with Heyward staying it would be great to land Floyd so he could learn from one of the best

How much "top talent" besides Mo Clarett did we have in '02? We don't "need" the top talent, we need to develop ours that we have better. If you think of our best players the last few years, most of them weren't top talent by recruiting standards. Little Animal, Hawk, Troy, Cam, Coleman, Santonio, Gonzo. Ginn and Beanie are the only top ranked guys I can think of who have shown up to their potential. The point is, those lower ranked guys are just as important, if not more important, than the high ranked guys.

Agree completely---both lines are the key building blocks to success. Without a good to dominant D-Line your linebackers and DBs can be exposed, no matter how good they are.

This kid looks like a monster, and the reports from the AA practices indicate that he is indeed one. It will be fun to watch him play this weekend.

I have this weird feeling that he'll pledge for UF, however I know absolutely nothing of the situation.

I believe entire two-deep of the line was eventually drafted or signed in the NFL. One of the starters (Will Smith) is a pro-bowler. Another starter (Kenny Peterson) starts in the NFL). I'd say the 2002 D-Line featured both depth and top talent.

Once they got into college. I truly don't know the answer to this so its a legit question, how were most of those guys viewed as recruits?

From looking through the archives at the o-zone... (Kenny Peterson and David Thompson's class wasn't evaluated like 3*, top 100, etc.)

Tim Anderson - Top 100 prospect.
Darian Scott - 6'3, 230 pound FB/LB prospect
Will Smith - On of the top DE/OLB prospects in the East. Considered Miami, Boston College, Michigan and Virginia Tech.
Simon Frasier - One of the top overall prospects in Ohio this year, and a top 100 prospect nationally.

I'm not sure about the rest of the line.

I am pretty sure the bolded guys were all 4* by at least one recruiting service.
