Institutional shit aside, Texas football wise is in a similar position to the Buckeyes under Earle (little before my memories really) and Cooper, (0-3-1 in my 4 years there). Kind of a bad gig.

We all talked shit about big name coaches when Coop finally got the axe. Cowher and Gruden and whatnot. Mike Belotti, I have never used this acronymn, but lol Mike Belotti. Ended up with Tressel and got damn lucky doing so.

You feeling lucky Texas?

Right now I'd bet against them.

Sure Tressel could win there and Dantonio would be the ultimate hire in my opinion but not sure how he would fit at Texas. The little brother stuff would be hard to say with a straight face at Texas, but realistically they are like what the 8th best team in state now.

They should pay Sumlin or Briles top dollar if they'd listen, otherwise in state they are looking at what, Tom Herman or a fucking High School coach perhaps.

This could devolve into something epic.

Texas could end up with the first female coach or perhaps a transgender coach.

Maybe Mark May will bite off Charlie Strong's dick and he will say fuck it and go transgender to keep his job in a PC flanking move.

How can you not give a black transgender coach at least 3 years if not 4 to make his mark on football.

You just never know when you get penises around Mark May.

I'd say the biggest difference was that our period of mediocrity was roughly a dozen years. I'd say it started when the 1980 pre-season #1 team went 9-3 and ended with Cooper's 1993 team. Yes, Cooper still choked at the end of the year after that, but the program was contending for national championships. The difference with Texas is that it's their period of relevance in the last 40 years has been less than ten years. Other than Mack's run, it's been a few singular seasons surrounded by year-after-year of mediocrity and a trail of fired coaches.

Scoring Defense: #113 (38.2 points/game).

Strong & Bedford. Defenseless. The only teams lower than us in total defense, are Kansas, Idaho, N. Mexico State, Texas Tceh, Tx State, Tulsa, & SMU.

Think how bad we'd be if we weren't #9 in turnover margin (+1.00/game).

A guy like Dantonio would never work at Texas because he isn't going to play the political game. I think it's a big reason why Saban could turn down $8-10mm per year and be happy making less where he's got absolute control over everything.

Texas needs a sharp coach that can also schmooze and kiss peoples asses. Herman may literally be the perfect guy, right up until the first road trip on a chartered flight when he tells the boosters they have to sit in coach because first class is for the linemen.

Agreed. I think the head coaching job at Tejas is like being the greens keeper at a high end country club. You have a thousand bosses who are all assholes and you can never satisfy any of them.
