Shaggy Texas - Shaggy Bevo, Thujone, MS Pain, Butt Hurt, and BBQ (RIP)

Thujone has said he is a new father and that's what has slowed his output. Sounds good to me; he needs to take care of his young, growing family first. Then feed us all with plenty of cartoon dicks, weeping Baylor vaginas and Chizik Death Stars.

Nobody better be slamming Thujone! He is the King of Non-Politically-Correct Football Art!

Man, I was just glancing over Texas' schedule, and it could get really fucking ugly for them. They get Okie State at home this weekend. Okie State has a pretty high-powered offense, and nothing the horns D has done so far can inspire much confidence in their ability to slow them down. So, they'd likely have to win in a shoot out. If they don't, they're sitting at 1-3 with this coming up:

at TCU
Oklahoma
K-State

Very good shot at dropping all 3 of those, putting them at 1-6 before a possible breather on the road at ISU, and home against Kansas. Lets say they win both of those to climb back to 3-6. They then have to travel to WVU, which I don't see them winning...3-7. Home against Texas Tech is probably a toss-up. Then they close in Waco against Art Briles' weeping vagina. They'll likely get clobbered there.

So, they could easily be staring at a 3-9 or 4-8 season coming off an absolute drubbing in their shitty bowl game. Teams are supposed to improve in a new coach's second year, not fall flat on their face. I wonder if the new AD they settle on wants to go in a different direction if their season plays out this way...

I got burned on Shag for suggesting that Charlie was on the hot seat and asking if he'd get fired if he lost to ND, Okie, TCU and Baylor - "What, fire a coach in year 2!?!"

I don't see how he can make it to year three if they fail to make a bowl and I gotta believe that many who snorted at my question back in August are asking themselves the same question.

Throw in that they're bringing in a new AD who probably won't feel any obligation to keep Skrong around, and I'd say if they approach the scenario I threw out above, especially if they get whacked in a couple of those losses, I'd say he will have a roasting keister. And I don't think that scenario's all that far-fetched...at all.

A lot may depend on what the market for coaches looks like this offseason. I don't really know any really hot new names other than WMU's PJ Fleck and the usual coordinator suspects (Bud Foster, Kirby Smart). Maybe if the Ol' Bavarian has a particularly successful season over in Houston, they give him a look? I think they'd be wise to, because I think Herman is going to develop into a big-time head coach. And I think he's just the kind of guy that could turn a downtrodden Texas program around in fairly short order.

We hear that all the time, but I really think Little Nicky is at his last stop. He's gonna be 64 on Halloween, and you can bet bammer and its booster network would match any offer Texas could make. Yeah, their fanbase might be growing restless, but I tend to think the more level-headed folks that control the bankroll haven't forgot what life was like after Bear retired. Perkins, Curry, DuBose, Franchione, and Shula are probably still pretty fresh on their minds. The only other coach that found success post-Bear was Stallings and he left them crippled for a decade with sanctions.

Firing the coach after two years without some sort of scandal seems unfair. I think he at least gets year 3, but would need 8 or 9 wins and beat ou plus at least one of tcu/baylor assuming they're still top dogs entering next year.
I tend to agree, but the AD situation is a wildcard here. Chances are if Charlie's team folds like a cheap tent, he'll feel pretty secure bringing in his own guy...fair or not. Football is a $$$ business, and losing hurts the bottom line. And I'd bet if you look back on a list of very successful head coaches, not many of them have a second year that regresses significantly from an already bad first.

It doesnt sound like theyre hiring a new ad in 2015, and a new one would probably give hime 1year. Hes headed towards a lame duck scenario right now though...
Herman is a scary thought... but dont see that happening after 1 year either.
Dont want to see him at Texas though

Keep in mind that the foosball obsessed "big cigars" who tried to derail his hiring are feeling pretty damned emboldened after hanging Patterson's scalp on their wall.

I don't think anything in that cesspool can be taken for granted right now.
