SG Michael Redd (NBA All Star, Olympic gold medalist)

He was a very underrated slasher. Mike was very adept at sealing defenders and using a deft touch off the glass to score. Also, not an athletic or quick guy, but he weaved through traffic pretty fluidly. I have knee injuries and he's not going to be nearly as capable of moving laterally.
you dont have to tell any buckeye fan he was a slasher. heck i dont even think of him as a shooter at first thought. i still remember the long skinny kid from west who couldnt shoot, he walked on campus and could get to the paint and finish on anyone.

hopefully it all works out for redd.

If the Cavs don't have any luck on the market before the deadline I wonder if the Bucks would trade Redd straight up for Wally? It might hurt the Cavs a little for the rest of the season, but if Michael can come back healthy they would be a great team next year. He might be better off on a team with guys like Mo and Lebron since he wouldn't have to slash as much and might be able to stay away from the injury bug a little. Just stand outside and nail 5 or 6 3's a game.

Redd's future is too uncertain.

The Bucks would do it to get rid of Redd's albatross contract without a doubt. Little chance the Cavs would however.

I doubt they would to with his current injury. If Redd would definitely be 100% next season I would think about it if I was Ferry. The only problem would be that it would kill their cap space in 2010.

Redd injury might doom Bucks franchise

John Hammond is one of the most positive, optimistic people I've met in the NBA. But I suspect even he must be cursing his luck these days.
Hammond, formerly vice president of basketball for the Pistons, is in his first season as general manager of the Milwaukee Bucks. Just as his team began to find a groove, leading scorer MichaAlan Diaz/Associated Pressel Redd (torn knee ligaments) was lost for the season.
Hammond has to be wondering and worrying if Redd, 29, will regain his All-Star form. Redd was slow to round into shape this season after competing on Team USA in the Olympics last summer.
The injury has an economic impact, too:
? The Bucks are tied into Redd for $35 million through 2011 -- $17 million next season and an $18.3 million player option for 2010-11. Any thought of trying to trade him, to get that salary off the books, is out the window for now.
? The Bucks have one playoff appearance in the past four seasons. From purely a money standpoint, they badly need to make the playoffs.
Garry D. Howard, sports editor of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, believes this injury might not only hasten the end of Redd's career, but it could force Bucks owner Sen. Herb Kohl to sell the franchise.
"(Redd) may not know it now, but that something different will be the way he plays the game of basketball, along with the fast-fading prospect that the Bucks will remain in the city of Milwaukee and the Bradley Center, an NBA arena that has long been past its prime," Howard wrote.
Howard said Kohl has spent more than a half-billion dollars on player contracts since 1994. And the franchise continues to lose millions each season. Kohl nearly sold the Bucks to a group headed by Michael Jordan a couple years ago but pulled out when it became clear they would move the franchise out of Milwaukee.
But with the Bradley Center half-full most nights and lacking in revenue-producing suites and other amenities, how long can Kohl hold on?
"Think about it," Howard wrote. "If you were a multimillionaire with clear fiduciary responsibilities, would you want to lose money on a multimillion-dollar deal? If you purchased the Bucks from Sen. Kohl, you would begin to lose money as soon as the ink was dry on the contract because the Bradley Center would continue to be an albatross around any new owner's neck."
Not good.
Nevertheless, Hammond is laying the foundation for an exciting, young team. He got a second-round steal in Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, he has a good mix of young and established players and has assets to work with in the trade and free-agent markets.
In the short-term, though, all Hammond can do is keep his fingers crossed and hope Redd makes a full recovery.

Bucks' Michael Redd has surgery on left knee
Milwaukee Bucks guard Michael Redd has had surgery to repair the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee that he tore nearly six weeks ago. Redd, 29, was averaging a team-high 21.2 points when he was hurt after he fell on teammate Luke Ridnour in a 106-104 win against Sacramento on Jan. 24. He will begin rehabilitation immediately and should make a full recovery after six months. He is expected to be ready for training camp next season. A native of Columbus, Redd led Ohio State to the NCAA Final Four in 2000. He was a second-round draft pick in his junior year. The Bucks have been without the sharp-shooting Olympic guard and center Andrew Bogut for most of the season, but they've continued to stay in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Bucks' Redd confident he'll be as good as new
By Charles F. Gardner of the Journal Sentinel
Posted: Apr. 23, 2009

Michael Redd wants to dispel any doubts as he makes the long comeback from surgery on his left knee.

The Milwaukee Bucks guard is already three weeks ahead of schedule, according to team doctors, and Redd is keeping his customary positive outlook as he enters the offseason and prepares to spend time at home in Columbus, Ohio.

After all, it doesn't do much good to dwell on the two freak incidents that limited him to 33 games during the season.

"The one thing I get out of it, I land on Luke's foot and twist my knee, and Nate Robinson jumps on my ankle," Redd said. "My body's not breaking down. I just had these freak accidents, man."

Redd missed 14 games in November after colliding with Robinson, the New York Knicks guard, during a scramble for a ball at Madison Square Garden.

The second injury was far more serious, however, when Redd landed on teammate Luke Ridnour's foot during a home game against Sacramento on Jan. 24. Redd suffered torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his knee.

General manager John Hammond and coach Scott Skiles sat down with Redd about a week ago to talk about his recovery process.

"I thought Scott said it best, 'You watched him do this before, and this is how he became who and what he is,' " Hammond related. "He worked himself into the player that he is. He came in this league a second-round pick, and no one thought he was going to be who he is.

"We expect him to be on the court in training camp. They always say the bad leg can be better than the supposed good one. So he should be ready to go."

Redd said he was not worried about any long-term effects when he returns for his 10th pro season, all with the Bucks, next fall.

"I'm busting my butt," Redd said of his rehabilitation. "I told Scott, I don't want to come back and just play. I want to come back and be at that elite status of 2-guards in this league. That's my standards; my standards are higher than anybody else's."

Redd points to the successful comebacks of elite athletes in various sports, indicating that will provide inspiration for him this summer.

"You look at Tiger (Woods), you look at Tom Brady, you look at the kid (Andrew) Bynum in L.A.," Redd said. "I could go on and on. Willie Green, Jamal Crawford. Dwyane Wade had multiple surgeries and bounced back and is having a stellar year.

"Plus you rest the body at the same time. I want to be explosive next year; that's my goal."

43. Michael Redd, Milwaukee Bucks, 2000: The former Ohio State University star was drafted inconspicuously by the Bucks long after fellow wing players Darius Miles (third), Keyon Dooling (10th) and Courtney Alexander (13th) became lottery picks and also watched two more wings -- A.J. Guyton (32nd) and Lavor Postell (39th) -- go ahead of him. Nine seasons later, Redd is arguably the most productive second-round draft pick in the NBA, carrying a career scoring average of 20.5 ppg. He became an NBA All-Star, an Olympic gold medalist, and ranks fifth in Bucks history in minutes played and points scored.
