SG Luther Muhammad (transfer to Arizona St.)

also made it to the 1-on-1 finals at the iverson classic. will be nice to have someone who is outstanding at breaking down defenders off the dribble, a la turner and russell. i'm seeing lots of offensive sets where on one side of the court ho1t will have kaleb underneath, jackson/woods/washington at the top, and muhammad on the wing. and plenty of isolation sets with muhammad on an island.

Muhammed is a hard nosed kid, you can tell that nothing was given to him in life and his style of b-ball reflects it, he's going to come in and be a grinder from day 1... I just imagine the potential of him and an improving Jallow suffocating ballhandlers and offenses period on a nightly basis...I absolutely love the types kids coach is recruiting and going out and getting...

When Ohio State’s second session of the summer term gets underway on June 19, four freshmen on the men’s basketball team will arrive on campus to begin their collegiate careers. The four, who all committed during a six-day period in mid-September last year, represent the first full recruiting class in coach Chris Holtmann’s time with the Buckeyes.

Before Justin Ahrens, Jaedon LeDee, Luther Muhammad and Duane Washington Jr. all arrive on campus, The Dispatch caught up with each of them to review their senior seasons, their reasons behind picking Ohio State and their hopes to contribute as freshmen.

A four-day series continues today with Muhammad.

“He shut him down,” Hudson Catholic coach Nick Mariniello told The Dispatch. “Every tough game, every big game we played, he always got their best player regardless of if he was a point guard, a 2 guard, a 3. I’m realistic with my evaluations, and I think by the time Luther is done at Ohio State I think he’s going to be one of the best if not the best two-way players in the country.”

The challenge of helping his team win by taking the opponent’s best player out of the game is one Muhammad said he embraced from a young age.

“It was definitely a big game, being that we played on ESPN, but I looked at it as another game, another nice player we’ve got to play against and I’m basically coming to show everyone I’m better,” he said. “That’s my mind-set matching up against top guys and best players. That’s just me wanting to show everyone that I’m better than that person.”

Quickley is the No. 4 point guard prospect and No. 20 overall recruit in the nation.
