Princeton High School senior Jordan Sibert, who has signed to play basketball for Ohio State, hopes to lead Princeton back to the state tournament this year.
Twenty-five wins, an undefeated conference record, a national ranking and the first state tournament appearance since 1972.
That's a lot to live up to.
And that's just fine with the Princeton High School boys' basketball team.
The Vikings came within two points of Columbus Northland in the Division I state finals last March, and they return this season with renewed hopes of bringing a state championship to Princeton.
Gone are the familiar faces of many former seniors, including two-time all-state selection Orlando Williams and all-league performers Marquis Horne and Stefon Johnson.
But senior Jordan Sibert, an OSU recruit, is back.
"Jordan will be expected to demonstrate his experience and leadership," head coach Josh Andrews said. "He is a positive influence on the entire program, and this year he gets a chance to have all eyes on him."
Last season, Sibert averaged 15.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He shot 51.5 percent from the floor, including nearly 37 percent from three-point range, and he led the conference with 2.8 steals per contest.
"Jordan is the consummate team player, and his focus is winning championships," Andrews said. "(He) has progressed well and is ready to start the season."
Princeton 67, Colerain 47: Senior guard Jordan Sibert scored 19 points to lead the Vikings, who are No. 1 in the Enquirer Division I poll, over the Cardinals, who are tied for No. 6. Princeton senior forward Darrien Wilkins added 17 points
Princeton Jordan Sibert (23) scores over Holmes' Jeremiah Johnson (23) in the fourth period Jan. 6. Princeton won in OT over Holmes, 57 to 54.
Sibert, meanwhile, has performed as expected. The Ohio State recruit is second in the GMC in scoring and fourth in steals with 17.2 points and 2.7 swipes per game.
"Jordan's done a really nice job," Andrews said. "He wasn't a full-time varsity starter until midway through his sophomore year, so he's still developing into the role of being double-teamed and having teams scheme against him. But he loves to win, and he'll put aside personal stats to (help the team)."

DAYTON - The Princeton Vikings were in search of their third consecutive district title when they took the floor at UD Arena against the Fairmont Firebirds. For a while it looked like it would be a close game, but then Jordan Sibert took over, and the Vikings came home with a convincing 59-44 win.
Sibert scored 14 of his game-high 26 points as Princeton took advantage of the third quarter converting an one-point halftime lead into a 17-point bulge at the end of the third period. He didn't even score in the fourth quarter.
Princeton advanced to the Sweet 16 after beating Fairmont 59-44 in the district final at UD Arena March 13.
Jordan Sibert scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Vikings, which led just 21-20 at halftime but erupted for 27 points in the third quarter. Senior forward Darrien Wilkins added 13 points, while senior guard Greg Williams had 11.
Sibert has scored at least 21 points in each round of the tournament and appears fully recovered from a leg injury that sidelined him from April until September. Through the first 15 games of the season, he averaged 16.7 points; over his last eight games, he is averaging 22.9.
"Jordan is back to himself," Andrews said.
Wow, that is pretty stout. Lewis was an extremely good athlete, if Sibert is more athletic than RL, that is saying a lot. It's also great to hear that he has a pretty good all around game, Lewis was more of a small forward in a guards body coming out of HS, if I remember correctly, decent handle, decent outside touch, pretty good taking it to the hole, he sure turned out ok.MARVYMARV14;1674178; said:The guy reminds me of a slightly more athletic Ron Lewis Better game at this stage as well.
