Schwab do you think Van wert will try and run with Upper or slow it down?

Also who is going to guard Diebler Morrow?

I've discussed that with some friends, and at this point I don't think Van Wert should try to run with Upper. Usually Van Wert likes to get out and push the tempo with this current squad, especially since the Western Buckeye League is known for being physical, and Van Wert isn't all that big. They use their quickness to get easier shots in transition against a lot of teams, but this is a different story. I believe their season high was 84 and also hit in the 70's 2 or 3 times, but when playing a team that scores like Upper does, it's probably too much. If Van Wert can keep Upper in the mid 70's range, they will have a shot to be right there with them. Morrow may guard Diebler, just since their size/style is similar, yet Froelich may opt to switch up every now and then to get Morrow a break, and to use someone who can simply focus on D. Van Wert will need Morrow to erupt, plus some HQ efforts from some other guys, i.e. PG Bret Leon, SG Jared Myers, and on D, F Kyle Klinker, who Diebler will probably remember after this one, what with the bright red hair and high motor. Who knows what may happen!

57 combined points in one period. :yow1:

Compared to 28 in the first half of VW vs. Wapak!!

EDIT: Very low scoring indeed, but these 2 WBL teams know each other very, very well, so in a sense it is relative to our game vs. Wisconsin ending at 49-48. Point taken, nonetheless. The nets probably have burn marks!

Lexington nearly claims shootout with Upper Sandusky (photo gallery, video)
By Carl Hunnell
News Journal

ASHLAND -- In recent years, Upper Sandusky has become accustomed to taking the other team's best shot. Winning the 2005 state title and fielding the highest-scoring player in Ohio history earns that kind of extreme opposition effort.

Not until Upper Sandusky's Jon Diebler added to his record scoring total by draining 10 straight foul shots in the final 1:22 could the Rams relax. The Ohio State recruit finished with 43 points, 13 rebounds and six assists and now has 3,081 points in his career.

I haven't been on BP since the tourney started Thursday, but I wanted to drop off a quick congratulations to Jon and the Upper Sandusky Rams on defeating Van Wert 79-62. I wasn't at the game, or listen to it, but it sounds like VW tried mostly to stop Jon, and allowed Falk game-high honors. Either way, congrats!

Diebler leads Rams into state tournament

TOLEDO (AP) - Jon Diebler, Ohio's career high school scoring leader, scored 32 points to lead Upper Sandusky to a 91-81 win over Olmsted Falls in a boys Division II regional final Saturday night. Diebler, who became just the fifth Ohio player to score 1,000 points in a season, went down late in the fourth quarter with a bloody nose after a blocked shot smashed the ball into his face. He changed jerseys, put on a facemask and returned to the game shortly after.

Dreaming of Dunbar vs. Diebler

Area's only remaining team facing state's best player (in rematch of 2005 state semis) would be something special.

DAYTON ? There are no sure things in boys high school hoops.
Except Upper Sandusky's impending defeat of Poland Seminary in the Division II state semifinals at OSU's Schottenstein Center.

Bet the farm on that happening. And should Dunbar beat Columbus DeSales in Thursday's other semi, that would pit Dunbar and Upper Sandusky in Saturday's final. That also would be a fitting rematch of their 2005 state semifinal shootout, which Dunbar lost, 95-90.

Scoring king Diebler is Mr. Basketball
By RUSTY MILLER
AP Sports Writer

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) ? All year, every night that Jon Diebler put on a uniform, hundreds of people were watching him closely. That?s the way it is when you?re on the verge of making history.

Diebler, a 6-foot-7 senior at Upper Sandusky High School, never flinched when the flashbulbs went off and his game and his focus never wavered. No wonder he?s The Associated Press Mr. Basketball for 2007.
