SG Eugene Brown (Transfer to Georgia Southern)

I know people think we didn't need more wings but the way Brown plays in terms of his combination of skill and length and athleticism, I think he could help fill a missing element.

And by that I mean a potentially very solid two-way SF who can hit shots.
i've stated before that i am very happy to have brown. he's an underrated player who will bring some much-needed shooting ability. that being stated, in terms of possible "missing elements" for 2020-21 based on how things project today, would you say that an interior of sophomores gaffney/liddell/diallo and freshman key looks more well-rounded than the 2/3 positions with senior jallow, redshirt junior sueing, juniors muhammad/washington/ahrens, and freshman brown? to put it another, imagine *knock on wood* the impact on the team if we lose liddell to injury versus sueing. or key versus brown.

While I have no qualms whatsoever about OSU signing Brown, I would agree that he is not at the position of greatest need for his class for OSU. That being said, scholarship spots often open up due to guys seeking more PT, and I would expect by the end of April for Holt to have room for at least one more player for next season to potentially add that grad transfer big.

I wouldn't dispute your point at all. I think Holtmann simply thought that Brown was good and complementary enough to what we project to have that it wasn't worth passing on him in hopes of saving that scholarship on a hypothetical B1G- caliber grad transfer big who might not even pick us. But I think Holtmann also believes he will have a scholarship open up besides the presumed (Kaleb's).
