Head Coach
this is a good add. i've posted concerns about getting a wing for 2020 when the far greater need appears to be a post, but brown fits well. looking at the 1 through 4 for 2020-21 and the following season, what appears to be lacking more than anything is pure outside shooting. washington, ahrens, and gaffney are pretty much it. muhammad, too, though i think the aforementioned three are what i'd call shooters whereas muhammad may be more of scorer. eugene brown is certainly a pure shooter a la william buford. similar skills, height, size, and athleticism. the edge in shooting would go to buford, but the edge in defense would go to brown.
ask brown what he prides himself on and he'll respond with two areas: shooting and defense. a coach's son who excels in the classroom and who enjoys playing solid defense? yes, please. this kind of a player is always a winner and always a good locker room fit. watch his interviews and you'll see a composed young man who should be a multi-year joy for osu fans to follow. he looks to be a great fit from a team chemistry standpoint.
as far as brown's 247 composite ranking goes, i would like to see how the sausage is made. the 247 composite has him at 112th. their own ranking has him at 92nd. rivals has him at 82nd. so if the composite ranking consists of 247, rivals, and espn, then that means that espn must have brown at 162nd in order to arrive at an average of 112th. however, espn gives him a scout grade of 80 as the 25th-best small forward. the player ranked 99th overall per espn is the 23rd-best small forward also with a scout grade of 80. there is obviously more than one small forward between 99th and 162nd. on one hand, rankings schmankings. on the other hand, something doesn't add up.
