SG Austin Grandstaff (transfer to Oklahoma, transfer to DePaul, transfer to Texas A&M-Commerce)

He can play second half of the year next season though. Not that I don't agree with you, stay and fight.

Absolutely. He is ten games into his FRESHMAN year and his dad has already made the determination that it won't get any better playing time wise. Kids a true freshman averaging 11.5 minutes a game. That's not terrible. Plenty of true freshman dont see the court, period. You had to know coming in you won't play over KBD and loving. Unfortunate to see him leave mid year.

I'll trust Thad over his dad.

Good luck wherever he ends up though, looks to have a good future.

Quotes from Cleveland.com from his dad.

"We'll be smarter in our decision," Wes Grandstaff said. "I didn't watch Ohio State play enough before we committed. If I knew that Loving and Bates-Diop were gonna be the two and three, we probably wouldn't have went there. Do I think Austin can score the ball like they can? Absolutely. But they do a lot of things like blocking shots and rebounding that Austin doesn't do."

Hate to see him leave. Had high hopes for him but as mentioned above since he is a father and this is the holiday season I am sure things are pretty tough right now. He was originally committed to Oklahoma State so I am pretty sure that he probably will transfer to somewhere closer to home.

On another note, he was an AAU teammate of Mitchell and with his status it just makes me wonder what might be next.

Wow. What's the Duke kid that currently has the biggest jump in scoring avg year over year? Can't recall his name. Dude is barely into his freshman year and already ready to bail? Kids these days have zero patience. Z E R O. Good luck Austin. I hope you marry the girl of your dreams who is never hateful, your kids never screw up and you never have a hiccup at a job. Life is always cherries. Sheesh.

Oh boy.

It's one thing for a student-athlete's parents speak for them during the recruiting process, when they are still in HS and actually "kids", but once they are on scholarship for a college team, there's no place for a statement like "we probably wouldn't have went there" from Daddy Grandstaff. Only one of you came here, Wes.

I thought that parents were supposed be a positive influence on their kids....
