SG Austin Grandstaff (transfer to Oklahoma, transfer to DePaul, transfer to Texas A&M-Commerce)

Grandstaff shot 7-19, 4-12 on 3s, for 18 points in the Derby game. He got hot in the second quarter and it carried over to the 3rd. He definitely has some skill with the ball & is a great shooter, some of his misses were in & out misses. He hit some deep shots and some mid-range ones as well, he knows how to shoot softly and get the roll. He got a lot of shots up, I think he is a great prospect offensively. Those kids who are sons of coaches tend to develop very well. Defense is the one question-mark area, of course in the all-star game format it isn't emphasized.

The kids playing in the Jordan Brand Classic right now he looks comfortable out there just seems to be moving a bit fast for his liking out there. He has a smooth handle and is a great passer, hasn't made a shot but we already know he's a good to great shooter I think he'll play next year.

Games on espnu

Outlook for 2015: Grandstaff spent his senior season trying to develop as a better all-around scorer, but when he signed he was thought of a desperately needed sharpshooter who could fill it up for a team that was struggling with offense. The Buckeyes will need new sources of scoring next year, especially now that Russell is leaving. Grandstaff could step in and fill that void. He's a candidate to land a starting spot at shooting guard, but could get a challenge from Kam Williams.

Grandstaff beats Kelsey Mitchell in three-point shootout

Don't forget, the women's team was there too. Sophomore guard Kelsey Mitchell nearly beat a couple of the guys in the three-point contest, but that title went to freshman guard Austin Grandstaff.

Grandstaff, who hit 15 of 25 in the first round, and Kelsey Mitchell, who hit 14 in the first round, advanced to the finals ahead of freshman JaQuan Lyle and junior Marc Loving.

Kelsey Mitchell, who led the country in scoring last year, only put up six points in the finals. Grandstaff won with 13. You can watch the video of their final below.
