SF William Buford - 4 BTT Title Games, most Buckeye starts (Virtus Roma - Italy)

ToledoBlade

William is indeed consistent. He scored 30 points to go along with 10 boards, leading Libbey HS into the Toledo City League finals. He is a pleasure to watch and seems to be adding to his 6' 5" height. Can't wait to see him in Scarlet & Gray.

Comparing Buford with anyone tough

In a city where high school basketball is a passion bordering on a mania, it is almost sacrilege to mention anyone in the same breath with Jim Jackson.
Jackson made us re-assess all those who came before - and could we ever forget the mid-1970s with Truman Claytor, Terry Crosby, Donald Collins and Kelvin Ransey all in the same town, or the mid-'80s with Dennis Hopson, Todd Mitchell, and Melvin Newbern? And since J.J.? Well, there's never been anyone close. It would be almost unfair to compare. But we're really tempted.

Great article grad. The point is dead on that comparison to JJ is not something to be taken lightly in Toledo. To reinforce the article, here is what he did last night....

ToledoBlade

William led Libbey HS to the City League Championship last night. He scored 26 points and added 7 boards. He was a perfect 7 of 7 from the charity stripe, hitting two key technicals down the stretch to stake the Cowboys to a solid lead.

As has been said many times already - he is special, even when compared to some other Toledo greats.

He had about 5 blocks as well. He was lights out shooting in the first half, trading threes with the Titans' Joe Jakubowski. They came out in the second half and brought out the stall, which explains why his scoring dropped off.

Having seen both play, I will say that both are comparable but that JJ gets the nod.....Buford does so much for his team, just like JJ. Buford is a great talent and I personally think he is right up there with Roe for #1 player in the state for the 2008 class.

yes That is Jimmy Jackson from Macomber.
Having Seen both play and with Buford being in high school yet I give the nod to JJ too.
What I meant to say is that he could improve and be even better than he is now.
JJ's resturant is/was a few blocks from where I work.

I might get some disagreement on this:) but when I saw JJ in high school physically he seemed more developed than a lot of the guys he played against. I am not taking anything away from his basketball skills.

buford can play. comparing him to a guy who was ncaa national player of the year...probably at this point a stretch. i think you can say that not taking an ounce of anything away from buford.
I agree with this, we have to wait and see how good Buford ends up. From what I read he has everything talentwise.
