City: Buford scores 29 in Libbey victory
Libbey got off to a slow start last night in its City League game at Whitmer, but the Cowboys recovered for a 75-68 victory over the Panthers.
William Buford led Libbey (2-0, 1-0) with 29 points, including 15 in a competitive third quarter, and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Brad Burton added 14 points and Brad Sandridge 11.
Ryne Smith led Whitmer (1-1, 0-1) with 24 points, Dave Sweeney added 22 and Antwan Willis had 16.
Whitmer led 13-10 after one quarter, the game was tied at 31 at the half and the Cowboys took a four-point lead into the final quarter.
Whitmer outscored Libbey 23-16 at the free throw line and 5-1 in 3-pointers.
