SF LaQuinton Ross (Memphis Hustle - NBA G-League)

Ross is a little bit like Thomas, in the sense that defense is not their strength coming into college and offense was what they're known for ... but Ross is a much more skilled ballhandler than Thomas and gets his points a lot differently. Ross is a big X-factor for this team next year.

If Ross could put on about 20 pounds he would basically have a perfect NBA body.

I think he'll go through some of the same "learning" that D.T. did last year, but as a basketball player I think he's considerably further along than where D.T. was in basically every aspect of the game.

I thought D.T. matured quite a bit throughout the year, and I have no reason to believe Ross will be any different. He might be frustrated with his role initially, but guys like D.T. who were in his situation should help him out. That said, unless he makes basically no progress between now and the season, Ross should have a significantly larger role than D.T. did last year. I think he's the deciding factor in that squad being elite instead of great.

LaQuinton Ross

Ross is a 6-foot-8 small forward with three-point range, and knows how to score.

"He's definitely a scorer," Noon said.

Ross was considered by some experts as one of the top five players in the 2011 class early in his high school career, but saw his stock drop because of injuries.

"He's got a tremendous upside," Helwagen said. "It may take him a year or so to really adjust to the college level, but I think he's got the potential. The sky is the limit for him, and he could be the sleeper of this class."

Ross is from Jackson, Miss., but transferred to Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J., to finish high school.

I for one am excited to witness what this kid has to offer. If he can come close to his massive potential, he could become a lottery pick. Time will tell, and I'm really pulling for him to have a great career with the Bucks.

It's hard to imagine anything but excitement from you, given your avatar and all.

Potential 5th starter? Q would give OSU a more traditional look.....

6'2" Craft
6'6" Buford
6'8" Ross
6'7" Thomas
6'9" Sullinger

This would give us Scott, Sibert, Williams, Thompson, & Ravenel/Spoon off the bench. This year's team will be so flexible and versatile. Matta can go with an extremely big lineup, an up-tempo lineup, or a more traditional lineup and everywhere in between.

I can't wait for this season. I would love to know which freshmen and sophomores are emerging. Somebody will be a pleasant surprise this season (like Craft last season)

LETS JUMP BALL.................

I know that we won't have a number of good players on our roster but also knowing Matta's I don't see a whole lot of players getting major playing time in the majority of games. Thad has always gone about 7, and sometimes 8, deep when the game is even a little bit in doubt and he really doesn't trust freshmen that much during those times. I think you saw that last year when many other freshman saw very limited playing time except for mop up minutes.

Need to kickoff first......... :)

Matta has shown n the past that if he has the depth, he will use it. This is one of those rare seasons where he'll have the depth. In '05-'06 Matta went 9deep in every game (except for the games Oden was injured) and all 9 players averaged atleast 10 mins/game, 8 of them averaged 16+ mins/game.

I really think that we will see 9 guys play every game this season, close or not. I agree that down the stretch in the tight games Matta will go with his most trusted 5 or 6 though.

I fully expect the following to play a role in every game this season (barring injuries)..............

Craft
Scott
Sibert
Buford
Ross and/or Thompson
Thompson and/ Ross
Thomas
Sullinger
Williams
And maybe the Raven too

Sound crazy? This is the deepest team Matta has had at OSU.
