SF David Lighty (Most Career Buckeye Wins, ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket - France)

It seems that either the OSU medical staff isn't among the best in their field or they're being excessively careful with injuries. I think the latter is true.

...or that every case is unique and should viewed as such. Trust me, the tOSU training/medical/phys. therapy staff is as good as it gets in the NCAA.

So when the uncertainty of injuries and recoveries could be a good thing, you enter a long winded argument with cbf40 (and his inside info) over his prediction (which was the same as Lighty's the next day), hoping that such uncertainty will be a good thing.

But when your choice to ignore David & cbf40's predicted timeline proves to be nothing but hopeful guessing, you lay into the training staff and their alleged blockade to OSU's success?

Neat.

p.s. Early Jan hasn't started, let alone the more likely mid feb prediction.

Bingo. You really can't compare injuries and healing trajectories/durations between individuals, especially in elite college athletic populations. Each person's body and tissue healing properties are unique.

As a physical therapy student at OSU, I see amazing things every day from our staff. They are without a doubt elite in their field....when they talk, you listen and when they decide to take action (or none) through a plan of care you can guarantee they have evidence from research to back it up.

Are you still attempting to win the argument about Lighty coming back earlier than expected?

If the kids aren't ready to play, they aren't ready to play. I'd go with no, there is no conspiracy theory about keeping our stars on the sidelines.

Ok...Some of you guys are being too nice...

Here is the deal...You have no idea what is going on with the situation...The OSU team doctors know a thing or two about injuries...Lighty had a set date to get his x-ray done...It was at the six week mark, which was Thursday, which is what I knew...They were hopefull in that when the x-ray came back it would look good and he could begin rehab...Well it wasn't as good as they had hoped, so thus the reason for the curb on optimism here of a return in the next couple weeks...

You bitch about the Oden situation...it was one game...Yeah it was against UNC, but was he really that effective in the game he first played in with one hand? Why play him in a regular season game and risk further injury, when you are unsure if he is healed...

Come back when you know anything about the situation and when you have your PHD...

My points are valid ones. There is a track record of OSU players recovering more slowly than players from other schools, like it or not. And, like it or not, it looks like things weren't certain after all, which makes the initial "inside info" inaccurate.

So you bring up 3 examples...One of which you wanted one game back...Who gives a shit about one game...He still had to play with one hand...

Offut...He wasn't slated to play a ton this year anyways...it wasn't like we needed him out there reinjuring his knee...

Yeah we need Lighty now...But the thing is, he is not healed...What do you want, Dr. Grant to ask god to come and heal Lighty...

I am pretty sure I gave you the estimated timeline, from people that know and I am pretty sure I said when his x-ray was before anyone was putting that out there...

If you know better why don't you go tell Dr. Grant that you want his job...I am sure he will say of course you know more than me you can have my job...

I am not an M.D. but I believe that I know way more than you do about rehabilitation and anatomy and I will take that to the bank. What type of statement is that:huh: Don't you know that everyone's anatomy is different. Maybe the Ohio State physicians are more careful about injuries. If one of those guys was your brother would you want them to be more careful or rush them back into play just for them to be set back once more.

I am very familiar with the bone that David fractured because I had a sore on that exact same bone this past summer/fall and it is very difficult to take all of the pressure off of that bone even wearing a boot. I wore a boot and I am non weight-bearing and just the sore took a couple months to heal completely.

You might have your contacts but please don't come on here criticizing the Ohio State medical staff. Leave that over on BN for the rest of your cult following.
