but if they ARE eligible, then yes I do expect my team to go after them if they feel they will make the team better.

just like I don't like the transfer rules either.
but I'd be lying through my teeth if I even attempted to say LSU should have avoided Joe Burrow because I don't like the transfer rule.
Burrow actually is a bad example because he was a graduate transfer and not like the current portal bullshit going on everywhere.

No beef with you.....just your stance. And you typed a lot of words here, but didn't answer my question. Answering it will help you understand why you think I have a beef with you.

What would it look like if you were just rationalizing a scummy thing your team was doing because it's your team? The same way Michigan fans have decided it's not really that big of a deal to illegally record the sideline of multiple full games of future opponents in order to build a massive database of their entire playbook....for the purpose of knowing exactly what play is coming as it's being signaled in to the players.

You can see where, to an outside observer, it just looks like you're doing mental gymnastics to justify some shitty thing your team is doing....right? You claim you're against the practice.......but all you're doing is defending the program, no matter what anybody says. How is that different from somebody who ISN'T against the practice, but defending the program no matter what anybody says?

i can’t believe the fucking commissioner sat up there and openly admitted (under oath) that he doesn’t even know what the NCAA rule was.

hasn’t even read it.

it’s been out for two full months.
but even ignoring that, he knew he was listed as part of this suit and was going to be called to testify.

how the fuck did you not read it on the plane ride to Baton Rouge?

says he doesn’t want pros in college sports, then says he can’t even define what a pro is.

i never once said what LSU is doing is right/wrong/otherwise.
i never once said LSU was squeaky clean. Never said they should/shouldn’t be doing what they’re doing.


just give me an across the board blanket treatment.
either they all are or they all aren’t eligible.

pick one.
stick with it.
and that’s the rule EVERYBODY plays under.

And if YOU paid any attention at all, I've said what you say about blanket treatment vs how you defend every action they take and paint every move they make with the glowiest of glows tell 2 different stories.

So again.......can you understand how, to an outside observer, somebody who tries as hard as you're trying to make it seem like poor wittle ol LSU are the real victims here....whether you want to say you are against the NFL players coming back to school or not.....your actions are pretty much the same as somebody who wants to win at all costs, right?

No, but you've said they're just sitting there innocently waiting for a ruling and just gosh darn it trying to build the best dad gum team they can. After all.....that's the only thing sweet sweet Lane Kiffin can be asked to do, right?

LSU are the aggressors here. LSU is putting up the statue of Liberty outside campus asking for your tired, former NFL, eligibility challenged masses yearning to play football again. In spite of the SEC saying don't do that.

If the Power4 commissioners were sharp, they would have foreseen this situation and enacted the rule earlier.

For months they’ve been working with members of Congress, attempting to set some rules in the transfer portal/NIL/5-to-play-5 world of college football. There were lawsuits earlier this year about players in other sports coming back for a 5th year.

Nobody in the league offices thought about guys getting cut after the NFL preseason wanting to go back to college?

If they make the line of demarcation the signing of an NFL contract, next year I foresee several guys showing up as undrafted NFL free agents and telling the teams they’ll only sign a contract if they make the 53-man roster. That would seemingly allow them to do basically what the current guys in question have done, but allow them to return to college since they won’t have been an NFL employee.

A similar thing could happen in a couple months with the NBA.

The NCAA does not allow football players to return to college if they get drafted or sign a professional contract. That appeared to be the case for Texas offensive lineman Cole Hutson, for example. Hutson, who returned to the Longhorns after he filed a separate successful eligibility lawsuit, had gone undrafted and participated in NFL training camp but didn't sign compensation contracts. But some of the players in the Louisiana case not only participated in training camps, but also signed and played in the NFL preseason.

Hutson played 48 games for the Longhorns over the past four years, including 10 starts at center and left guard in 2025. After going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, Hutson participated in rookie minicamps with both the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys, ultimately failing to land a permanent contract.

Weeks after the passage of five-for-five -- with Texas facing injury and depth questions along the offensive line -- Hutson filed a lawsuit to gain eligibility. He was granted a temporary restraining order, joining a wave of college athletes who have returned to the field via the courts.

Hutson's case does not fall under the specific scenarios banned by the SEC's rule. While players typically receive stipends for participating in minicamps, Hutson never officially signed a contract with an NFL team because one was never offered.
