SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

So, let's see what we've got here: Missou and Nebraska left the Big 8/10/12/10 because Texas was making all the calls.
A&M joined the SEC because Texas was making all the calls.
I think I see a pattern here. Question is, why would the SEC want to bring a problem child into the conference?
Answer is, principles come way after money.

Next big question is why Texas and Oklahoma would want to eat Alabama's shit for the foreseeable future. If the playoffs expand to 12 they would still have to get by Alabama and Georgia to get to the real playoffs.

Arkansas also jumped to the SEC to get away from Texas. What does the vote have to be? Yesterday, I heard both a 3/4 vote and a simple majority. If it's the former, I think it's a done deal that aggy can block it (aggy, pig, Mizzou, probably LSU and at least one Eastern division school).

[QUOTE="Nutriaitch, post: 3415387, member: 13693"

but no fucking way in hell am i good with us losing all of our good annual rivalries to pick a pair of teams we have almost no history with.
While anyone else with any sort of historical relevance to the conference being in opposite division.

I feel your pain. Do you think we like to see games against our "traditional" rivals Mary land and Rotgut?

However, as we quickly learned "Answer is, principles - and history and traditional rivalries - come way after money.

i’m not opposed to the possibility of adding a rivalry with either Texas or OU.

hell we traditionally didn’t play Auburn very often prior to expansion in 1992, but that developed (quickly) into one of our best rivalries. Didn’t really cost us anything to add them to the yearly schedule.

adding A&M rekindled an older traditional rivalry. but what it cost us was not seeing the rest of the East (other than Florida) very often.

i don’t see how we could add either (let alone both) without losing someone i don’t want to lose.
Unless you can somehow move Arky to the East, maybe?

fuck ALL of this.

I’m not at all opposed to letting them in.

Fucking Kennedy was still alive last time anyone i that proposed West division other than us won the SEC.

i want to continue playing Bama, Auburn, and Florida every year.

I have no desire to be in the old SWC.

I would add that Ohio State and Michigan have found out that the Conference office folks are capable of making decisions on their own and will - and fuck you and your traditions, this is what's best for the conference.
let Texas in and y'all will learn the same difficult lesson.

Report: Missouri and Texas A&M to vote against Texas, Oklahoma joining the SEC

A vote must be conducted by the SEC before either school can be allowed in the conference. To go through with the transaction, at least 75% of the SEC’s affiliates must approve.

In other words, 11 of the 14 current members must vote yay. To turn down the proposition, four members must vote nay.

Kirk Bohls of the Austin American Statesman is reporting at least two schools from the SEC would vote no: Missouri and Texas A&M. Only two others would be needed to block the conference’s expansion.

the SEC is no longer capable of thinking for themselves.
all decisions are run through Tuscaloosa.

FWIW - I actually like the idea of adding Oklahoma.
For all their losses and "coming up short" seasons, they don't bitch and moan, no blame shifting. They just quietly pick themselves up and try again.
Competitive in women's sports as well. It's a good fit.

It's 938 miles from Athens GA to Norman
It's 896 to College Station.

For 40 more miles, let's add the real Blue Blood. Not Texas.

It's 1000 miles to UT

UGA fans would definitely know about “coming up short” seasons.

I still don't think it happens. This is OU and tejas going to the SEC with their cups out, not the SEC approaching them. They could be doing it for leveraging a better B12 deal. Tejas is just arrogant and stupid enough to think that they could lure the B1G and PAC into a bidding war for them. Plus, you have to factor in the SEC hesitancy regarding the LHN (though this might be an espn move to rid themselves of that albatross) and tejas' well known cancer in the locker room. Aggy, Mizzou, Arky and LSU I assume would be no thought no votes on letting tejas in. Some other schools like Florida, SC and Georgia might vote no in a move to insulate themselves from ever having another in-state school invited.

Ya think "a better deal" will be discussed at the meeting?
