That article was tl/dr. I've probably read it before, and frankly, it's not going to sway what I saw with my own eyes. Wazoo wasn't even close to the same caliber of opponent as Peyton Manning and Tennessee. The Vols had Manning, Peerless Price and Jamal Turner on offense, Leonard Little, Al Wilson and Terry Fair on defense. Wazzoo had Ryan Leaf and a bunch of nobodies.

Sagarin ranked Nebraska #1 in his final poll, with Michigan a distant fourth behind one-loss FSU and two-loss Florida. Doesn't say much for the writers and their biases, does it?

Michigan is welcome to their little wooden plaque, and they're welcome to claim they won a share of our title. The Big Ten/Pac-10 ducked out of the Bowl Alliance that every other major conference signed on to and cost Michigan a shot at the crystal trophy.

I don't know what the bolded part means. I agree that the article was extremely biased, and I wasn't trying to change your mind. I searched for poll data for over 10 minutes before I could find the voting totals in both final polls - sometimes google is a bitch!

And I've probably already read it, regardless. There were a lot of hateful articles written about Nebraska after the 1997 season, fueled no doubt by the numerous off-field issues our more notorious players had engaged in over the past five years (Lawrence Phillips, Christian & Jason Peter, Abdul Muhammad, etc), and after a while everyone in Nebraska got pretty tired of articles written by agenda-driven computer jockeys bent on venting their spleens. I'm sure you know what I mean, with the past and current episodes you guys have had to deal with with ESPN and Co.

And if you ever need any data from 1997 regarding Nebraska/Michigan, just ask. I've had this conversation half a million times and I have all kinds of data/links. Back when we played Michigan in the 2005 Alamo Bowl our boards were besieged by Wolverines fans eager for the impending slaughter as payback for stealing "their" championship.

That didn't turn out so well for them, though.

The play by play and band would still be more iconic from the legendary play, but that could have been the best series of laterals in CFB history, if not for Ecker.

Most of our coverage team stopped when Michigan threw that lateral where it looked like they fumbled it and the guy who grabbed it was down. You could see everyone visibly let up, but the camera showed a good angle of the guy NOT being down. The house started cheering like we'd won but a bunch of us were shouting, "That's a live ball!"

That would have been a horrible way to lose that game. I'm glad Michigan had the bigger blunder, and that Titus Brothers was still paying attention.

I wasn't trying to rile you up, but I understand you defending the team that won this:

I forgot! I took a walk over to the trophy room on lunch and we do not have this trophy. We have those three Sears trophies for 1994, 95 & 97. Not sure why, and the curator I asked didn't either. She knew which trophy I was talking about and assured me it wasn't anywhere else, like in the football offices or anything. We have a bunch of our conference trophies up there, not on display.

Not sure how it's going to work in the Big Ten, but in "that other conference" they would hand out a trophy to each team that shared the division title. In the last two years both Nebraska and Missouri finished with identical records, but since we held the tiebreaker, we won the division. Missouri still got a trophy, though. Nebraska also got a trophy for splitting with Missouri in 2008, but you'll never see it because we don't put it on display.

Mike Hart was certainly a great RB

It takes a truly transcendent player to overcome an opponent when the rest of his team plays like dog ass.

Speaking well of that p.o.s. blowhard probably won't help in any way, shape or form. And that's just one of many distinctions between Bike and Suh. Suh never publically spewed horseshit from his mouth like Bike. Bike's ability was sustained by some pretty good OL members. Other than that, I have no regard for him.
