Having now lived in Ohio for 5 months, I can confirm with absolute clarity that this is not a religion that's confined to the south.
Midwesterners worship Walmart too - its just that your services are significantly slower and the majority of parishioners complain that southern walmart shoppers do most of their shopping in warmer weather.

With 32 first place votes (worth 25) and 30 second place votes (worth 24), Nebraska got 1520 points. TSUN would have received 1518 votes if they were 2nd on all of the ballots with Nebraska first, so that means they either got two 3rd-place votes or one 4th-place vote. So one or two guys seem to have an agenda, but it didn't affect who was #1.

There were definitely agendas in that voting, for both teams. That's why polls to determine a championship are asinine. Unfortunately the fix is probably more difficult than what we have now, so we're stuck with the BCS. So it goes.

Um, no. Nebraska was #2 and UM was #1.

It's pretty hard to call those #1 votes a "gift" when we had just finished completely dismantling the #3 team in the country, led by one of the greatest college football QBs of all time while Michigan struggled to beat the #7 team. I think you have your gifts mixed up a smidge.

To be honest I really don't know who would have won between Michigan/Nebraska that year. There was only one way to find out and that was on the field.

I'm sure Nebraska wouldn't have killed Michigan that year. Michigan in 12 games only gave up 20+ points once the whole year and in 7 games held opponents to single digit scores. They only gave up 9.5 points per game that year and only allowed 4 or 5 touchdown passes that year. with 20+ INTS. Michigan beat 4 top 10 teams (when they were ranked at the time) and 7 total ranked teams that year. Their schedule wasn't cream puffs.

Michigan may have struggled against the the #7 team in the country but they did beat Colorado 27-3 while Nebraska struggled with them only beating them 27-24.

It would have been a good game and if you liked defense that would have been the game for you.

It's like Mike Hart. He is only one of 4 players to ever rush for 5000 yards in the BIG Ten. Think about that for second with all the great running backs that have been through here. It takes a truly transcendent player to overcome an opponent when the rest of his team plays like dog ass.

It was one of the single most dominating individual performances you're ever likely to see, yet Nebraska lost because we had NO offense. You really can't fault Suh for that.

Yes and I love Suh. I'm glad he is with my Lions.

As a QB you just have the responsibility that most people can't grasp. It is one of the most if not the most important position in all of sports. I bet Manning would give up all those awards for another crack at Florida just knowing how competitive he is.

Ask Buckeye fans here what they will remember the most about Troy Smith. Here is a hint.....it's not going to be the Heisman Trophy.

That's one of the odd cultural things that Nebraska Fan is going to have difficulty with in the Big Ten. To us, every year the goal is a national championship. Beating this team or that team and/or winning your conference is just something you expect to do along the way. (Aside from 2001 ) you can't get to the national championship game without doing both, so those are never the focus.

This concept of a season being "good" if you beat your rival will not be one we adopt, at least not for a couple of generations.



EDIT - it also seems like we're destined to be diametrically opposed. I'm a Husker fan and a Bears fan, you're a Michigan and Lions fan. While I commend your taste in football conferences/divisions, I can't share your love for your teams. But I will always root for Suh, no matter where he plays.
