Taos,

I can't listen to Stern on Squeezebox.

I rarely, if ever, listen to music.

Thump, I hear where your coming from, I have listened and thought hard about your problems with this merger. So, I wrote them down, and crumpled up the paper really tight, so it looked like a round ball. I called it my sympathy seed and planted it in the ground, so maybe it would grow a sympathy tree. Maybe that tree will bear fruit and someone will care, but I sure as hell don't.

I'm quite perturbed, I went to login and listen online to Sirius yesterday and it said, that listening online will no longer be free for subscribers who don't resign by March 11th and once your subscription is up, you'll have to pay.

How long until they start charging extra for Stern? :roll1:

They say they are switching over to a digital feed. We will see if it is a better sound.

I doubt they would charge extra for Stern. If anything they would just raise the total cost in general even more.

I still have 19 months left on my prepaid XM contract for my car. :pissed:

Hopefully, Echostar can orchestrate a smooth transition.

How this merger is working out for me, a long-time Sirius customer:

I'm losing access to online streaming because I refuse to pay additional for something I was already paying for.

My favorite (and really only) music station, Sirius XMU (n?e Left of Center) sucks now. It's the nature of indie rock that you sort through some crap music to get to the good stuff - but it's gone from about 50:50 to about 80% crap and 20% decent. I tried to listen the other day on a 45-minute car trip and only heard on song worth a damn, and it was only the sixth best song on that particular album. The quality of that channel has just gone downhill since the merger.

To top it off: I had to run to the store during a recent Cavs game, and the broadcast was nowhere to be found. Since I've changed jobs, I've been fortunate enough to be off work and at home when games are played, so this was the first time this season I've had occasion to try to listen on the radio. I tuned in on Sirius regularly last season to follow the Cavs, and now they're nowhere to be found. As it turns out, the NBA is now part of the "Best of XM" package. I had it before on Sirius, now the new company wants me to pay extra for something I was already paying for, while claming that it originated from a different source.

They still air some NBA games, but I've only found the Cavs once, and that was the Detroit broadcast about a month ago. For whatever reason, the Cavs are always on XM.

I have listened to several Utah and Minnesota games on Sirius. Why? I have no idea.

Finally gave up and cancelled, I had 7 months left, so I told them my radio had been stolen, they gave me a refund for the time, I was just thankful they didnt offer me a free radio. The thing for me was with the coming of the BTN, I rarely used it for sports, with all the channel merger they had taken a couple channels I liked away, such as fungus 53, and replaced them with the sirius version which during the day had two douchebags talking instead of playing music. top that off with all the new streaming apps coming for the Blackberry and I found myself able to get most of the content over my phone without having to pay any extra.

I was also a little bitter that they had given XM users some sirius channels, but wanted to charge another 4 bucks a month to have the full lineup, I thought that was silly, and as I have read, a ton of people have left for that reason, if you are going to have a merger, have a merger, don't yank and change channels around, then try to get users to pay for stuff that kept them looking forward to the merger.
