Satellite Radio (XM, Sirius, and Stations) MERGED

I've listened to Stern since I lived in Long Island in the mid 80s. So I'm well familiar with the good old days. He has certainly changed considerably as he became the very thing he mocked for years.

His show has morphed from "bits" to interviews and various games involving wack pack. But IMO, it is still fantastic, just different. I still have moments with tears in my eyes from laughter regularly.

Stern evolved. I can understand that. I have too since I'm no longer 18 years old. If you don't like it, I can understand, but I've listened to almost everything else on radio and he still rules. His departure, when it comes, will suck.

Eh, I get that people still like him, and I understand it. But the "AGT" talk and shilling for whatever pet nonsense his wife is doing now just causes me to roll my eyes. Plus, like you said, he has become everything he once railed against. He's essentially Imus at this point. Maybe I've grown cynical, but even the "bits" seem horribly forced/fake at this point. I couldn't care less about Benji and his shrew girlfriend. I missed Artie's humor...and just humor in general that has been lacking since they never bothered to bring in a comedian to sit in the Artie/Jackie chair. More Sal/Richard, less AGT/Northshore Animal League.

He was the best ever at what he does, a true innovator, but listening to him now is like watching Favre in his last year in Minnesota, or Griffey, Jr. falling asleep in the Mariners clubhouse.

For someone who doesn't like it, you still seem to listen to it...

To each his own, but the AGT stuff is a minimal part of a 4 hour show. And honestly, while I loved it when he gave away cardboard box homes to the homeless, I get a kick out of today's show as well. And I enjoy the guests more now since it's not just an opportunity to push a guest over the limit. Meanwhile, anyone enabling Riley Martin to have a show is awesome in my book.

Well, my trial expired a couple of weeks ago, but once I switch my lifetime sub over, I will still listen on occasion. Like I said, I used to have it on exclusively on in my car, all the time. Never changed the channel. Now, I listen occasionally, when I don't have my iPod plugged in, or nothing's on one of the other channels I listen to. Even then, the moment AGT talk or pet stuff starts, I switch it. He does still occasionally do some quality interviews, I will give him that. I just miss the humor and bits that made it so great.

artie lange was the best part of stern and then he left and then i lost access to it and that was that.

artie > jackie and it wasn't ever close

artie > *

if artie came back to the stern show, i would probably pay for it. hell i used to even pay for howard tv on demand.

i got some really good clips from the show back in the day when billy west was on too. billy was much better than jackie too.

don't get me wrong, i liked jackie's cheapness and his love of weed and his laughs and his always sellng joke stuff and whatnot, but when artie came on the show, it was really at its prime. i probably have 200 hours of the stern show with artie on mp3. can listen to it over and over and it is always great.

Puke. I guess I can have my receiver paused overnight. It will save the past 1 hour and 30 minutes or so that way. Since I start my commute at 7:00, I'll be alright.
But this "Main Team" or whatever it is - that's just terrible. Also, where'd Jack Arute go? Is Brando on at 12:00 every day? Also also, is Mark Packer finally gone, or is he still there?

Edit - sorry, I'd google this info on my own, but my company sees fit to block some websites from me.

I agree, Artie was my favorite part of the show. I used to love when he'd get hysterical with laughter. I think the hardest I ever laughed was when they were playing the Mike Walker fart songs and Artie was wheezing uncontrollably from laughter. I literally had to pull off the road.

Plus he had some epic stories. That's something that's really missing now.

I loved Billy West. So many good pieces he contributed to.
Definitely. I always especially loved the Marge Schott impressions.

Don't forget Larry Fine.

not sure what my favorite Artie moment was.

Artie on Mad TV dressed up as Babe the pig and escaping the set to go meet his coke dealer in his pig costume was great.

Artie vs the women's college basketball player was great.

Artie drunk in Vegas was great.

Artie getting hustled by the hooker in Vegas who asked for money only after doing him was great.

Artie playing Anal Ring Toss and becoming Lord of the Anal Rings was great. Special E show 3 parter.

Artie singing ACDC and going Fire all the time.

I really miss Artie.

I got some great clilps of Billy pretending to be George Takei of Star Trek and then George being on the show and then Billy being his lost son.

Billy doing his imitation of Jackie laughs was great.

Probably my favorite Billy clip was when Toy Caldwell of the Marshall Tucker Band died. The infamous N-word hatin' hat bit. Don't take my hat, my N-word hating hat (sung to Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus before he was just Miley's dad).
