San Francisco 49ers (official thread)

Apparently Gore to the iggles is happening. Fuck.

Also close to signing Torrey Smith. Will be nice to add a receiver that can actually stretch the field. We'll see if the use him properly.

I like the Dockett signing. But, right now, the OL is a huge concern for me, especially if they don't re-sign Iupati.

@AdamSchefter
Reggie Bush and 49ers reached agreement, per sources. Bush back in California.
Not sure what is left of Bush, but he has been injury prone his whole career & was quite poor virtually all of last season.

This mock has the Niners grabbing Sparty CB Trae Waynes at 15. CB is now a pressing need with Culliver signing with Washington, and uncertainty surrounding whether Perrish Cox will be back. Signing Torrey Smith eases the pressure on the immediate need at WR. Would also like to see them add some pieces to the OL early on.

In 4 years as GM Baalke has never used a 1 or a 2 on a corner (unless you count safety/nickel Jimmie Ward.) I wonder if that's philosophy or just the way their draft board broke. Seems like his philosophy is to use high draft picks/money on other positions and use mid to late round picks on size/speed secondary guys they can hopefully mold into good corners.

I'd be fine with Waynes personally. A CB depth chart of Brock/Johnson/Acker/Reaser doesn't really excite me.

Damn, dude was looking like a beast in the pros. We will only see more of this in the future.
Yep. This off-season seems to have officially kicked off the new era. With this move in particular probably going down as the defining moment. This will become more and more frequent. Heck of a player to be hanging it up at 24, but his quotes are telling.

And of course, no qualms from me. Definitely interesting for the employers.
