S/LB Tyler Moeller (official thread)

Wow, awful news. Hopefully Tyler has a speedy recovery and most of all, hopefully this isn't a type of injury that will linger with him (for the sake of his well being of course).

wow...just a sad situation. i feel a bit numb...i think he was slated to play heavy minutes...here is hoping he recovers 100 percent...i have a question...how long is he out for? the dispatch is saying the team expects him back soon: --" LB Tyler Moeller was injured during 7-on-7 summer workouts. Right now, the nature and severity of the injury in unknown. A team official called the time Moeller would be out "a couple days" and safety Anderson Russell said he thought it would be day-to-day."

Moeller hurt; Small, Rose don't report

Some quick news from the day OSU players report to preseason camp:

-- LB Tyler Moeller was injured during 7-on-7 summer workouts. Right now, the nature and severity of the injury in unknown. A team official called the time Moeller would be out "a couple days" and safety Anderson Russell said he thought it would be day-to-day.

Moeller is a fourth-year junior who seems poised to take on a much bigger role this year. He was listed as the starting strong-side linebacker in spring practice.

Ohio State junior linebacker Tyler Moeller remains hospitalized Sunday with an undisclosed injury while his Buckeyes teammates reported for the start of preseason camp.

A spokesman at the Ohio State University Medical Center listed Moeller in fair condition Sunday afternoon. Buckeyes team spokeswoman Shelly Poe said Moeller is expected to join the team in the next day or two.

WCMH-TV in Columbus reported that Moeller sustained a head injury several weeks ago and was hospitalized for tests.

Moeller is a projected starter at outside linebacker for the Buckeyes after starting the final two regular-season games last fall. He recorded 18 tackles (3 for loss) in 2008.

"I just hope for a speedy recovery for him," defensive tackle Todd Denlinger told ESPN.com. "I know we'll see him here soon."

dispatch blurb:

Sources: Moeller injury serious, season in doubt

OSU linebacker Tyler Moeller has suffered a serious head injury and his status for the season is in question, team sources tell the Dispatch.

The injury occurred during a trip to Florida in July, according to the sources. The circumstances aren't clear, but Moeller's head hit the floor.

He did not practice with the team during informal workouts last week, but was hospitalized only recently.

Sources say normal recovery time for an injury of this nature is two or three months. Being cleared to play football could take even longer.

This is one of those things that reminds us that football is just a game.

Hopefully Tyler can recover from this, and it should be comforting to know that Buckeye nation will always be behind you in your recovery process.

Just got off the phone with my source and here is what I am allowed to report:

1) Tyler is doing much better and is feeling much better.
2) This incident occurred due to an unprovoked assault on Tyler. Tyler was out with his sister and uncle and was attacked for no reason.
3) Tyler will be working his butt off to get back soon.

Tyler and his family need our prayers and well wishes for a speedy recovery.

:(
