'Roids Hammer Coming Down Again Soon

Damon and Clemens would really make sense.

Clemens is the shock/crush/baseball to knees guy.

Damon is the budding guy, not to mention maybe the main Red Sox guy (other than Schilling) that has enough respect/celebrity to really be taken badly by baseball fans.

Ouch, that would hurt.

I am gonna say it has to be something else.

(Clemens would also fit my Kay analysis of a possible Yankee, but in this case an ex-yankee. . .)

Michael Kay's report was back on August 11, btw.

High Lonesome: "The DH shouldn't even exist"

Maybe if your league adopted the DH (like every other league from little to the major leagues), it wouldn't be so far behind the AL. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

"Who was a better second baseman the year he won the MVP. Actually, who was better last year? Soriano? He makes kent look like a gold glove"

Ever hear of Roberto Alomar? Or how bout your boy Craig Biggio? BOTH were way better than Kent throughout their careers. I'd even take Chuck Knoblauch in his Twins days any day of the week over Kent.

Kent did NOTHING before Bonds, and did nothing after leaving the Giants. All he's proven is that he can feast on fastballs that pitchers don't want to throw to Barroid.

Damon may be a cult figure to Red Sox fans, but he's not a budding HOF'er by a mile. Good player, but he's not a big enough name to be mentioned in either class that Kay spoke about.

Actually, Kent's numbers with Houston and the Dodgers for the last 3 years are very similar to his 1999 and 2001 seasons with the Giants, but not as good as his 2000 and 2002 seasons.

But I agree that he should NOT be in the Hall of fame.

Lets take a closer look at Kent's resume, shall we?

Kent: .289 lifetime AVG, 8 seasons (in a row) 90+ RBI, 302 lifetime HR (per end of '04 season), four seasons 40+ doubles (his doubles totals are actually quite impressive), 4-time All Star, 2000 MVP, 3 Silver Sluggers, and never lead the league in ANY major offensive category.

Nice, but not HOF worthy ..

BTW, during Kent's SF career, Bonds OBP totals (a spot ahead of him in the lineup) were .446, .438, .389, .440, .515, & .582. Bonds was also Intentionally walked 197 times in that same period, 99% of the times to pitch to Kent. That should tell you something.

I hate to actually talk about the subject of the thread, but did anyone hear Will Clark's statement about Palmiero?? They were teammates in college at Mississippi State, and never got along. Clark said, "They finally caught him."

I'm surprised there aren't more Palmeiro jokes out there about his roid use and his need for Viagra. Like, "I take both to give me power in both sticks" or "I take this one to hit homers on the field and this one to hit homers off the field."

They both help him keep a firm stroke as well.

Actually, neither Alomar nor Biggio were better than Kent in 2000, so you could say for one year he was the best player at his position. Is that H.O.F worthy? Not even close.

I'm not sure why, but I have never liked Kent.

When asked what he would say to Raffy if he ran into him today Will said, " Well, Ya got caught"

In their primes I would take Roberto and Biggio over kent(by the way they are all HOF in my book) but Chuck Knoblauch? 1) Aggy 2) no

Also neither chuck, Biggio, or Alomar were better than Kent in his MVP year or last year, which coincidentally, was the original question.
