'Roids Hammer Coming Down Again Soon

Wasn't it Ken Caminitti who estimated that 75% of all big leagers are on the juice?

Everyone dismissed him as being full of shit since he was on coke. Maybe he telling the truth after all.
i think he said 50%. everybody said he was full of shit because 50% of the league is pitchers and pitchers definately aren't on steroids. that would mean that everybody else was.

whoops.

So Michael Kay (sp?) out here in NYC said some interesting things. He said there was one player in each league who tested positive, and that one was a lock for the Hall of Fame and one was a potential hall of famer (younger?).

He also said that one would shock, crush, and dissapoint you, and that one (maybe the same one) would bring baseball to its knees.

Maybe Sloops has the exact quote, being a NY fan. . .

Anyway, I might guess a yankee for one, as he is a yankee announcer and dissapointment and crushing of the fans, his listeners, may mean a yankee (but then again, that could get him in shit for starting a rumor, so maybe not. . .).

Also, who, if tested positive, would bring baseball to its knees? I can only think of a few guys: Clemens, for sure; arod would do it; jeter would do it (though I find this unbelievable). Anyone else? Nobody would care about Manny or even Pujols that much, i don' think. It has to be a huge, national player of great respect. ???

Anybody else hear about this?

Jeter would kill baseball. I hate the fucker for all his little faggy mannerisms (and maybe because of his jersey :p ), but he is the face of clean baseball. It would be another Kobe.

One rumor I heard that could be either the HOF lock or the potentional HOF was Pujols.

edit: doh....reading back on this thread, i think that rumor was from here

kinch: "He said there was one player in each league who tested positive, and that one was a lock for the Hall of Fame and one was a potential hall of famer (younger?)."

When did Kay report this? Today? I missed it completely.

"He also said that one would shock, crush, and dissapoint you, and that one (maybe the same one) would bring baseball to its knees."

I think everyone's leaning towards Pujols as the younger (potential) Hall of Famer .. if you look at the NL right now, what other hitter (or pitcher for that matter) falls into this category? As in, young, building a HOF resume, but not quite there yet .. I can't think of anyone else.

If the 'young' HOF'er was the AL'er, it might be Tejada or Vlad ..

And if its Pujols in the NL, that would make the 'lock' HOF'er and American Leaguer. How many lock HOF'ers do we have in the AL right now?

Jeter, Rivera, A-Rod, Randy Johnson, ManRam, Sosa, Palmeiro (doesn't apply), & Pudge Rodriguez.

If the 'lock' HOF'er is a National Leaguer, we have: Clemens, Maddux, Piazza, Griffey, or Bonds.

I can't think of anymore 'locks' right now (off the top of my head).

I have to say that Palmeiro is quite a lucky guy that all this T.O stuff is going on now cause it's taking a lot of the media hype off him. If T.O. wasn't being such a moron, Palmeiro would still be the #1 story in sports and getting shelled a lot more

High Lonesome: "kent? i doubt he juices but I would call him a lock, Also Bagwell, though some say he is on the fence."

If Jeff Kent makes the HOF, I am officially no longer a baseball fan. I will forget every ounce of baseball history & knowledge I've learned over the years, and I won't follow the sport anymore.

That guy could easily be the least deserving HOF'er of all time.

Back to your point: Kent & Bagwell are on the fence. I think Bag Pipes will make it one day, but I wouldn't call him a "lock" right now.

"I call kent a lock because sandberg got in and Bagwell is just about my all time favorite player."

Hold on a sec. Kent's numbers are better than Ryno, but they played in different eras. Kent played in the juiced ball/player era. He never once was the best player on his team, he was never once the best 2B in baseball in any year that he played, he played for many years without doing jack shit, and barely won an MVP batting behind the best player of our time (who also got on base at a .450 to .500 clip in front of Kent).

Sandberg was the premier 2B of his era: offensively and defensively. He was the best player on the Cubs and a perrenial All-Star throughout his career.

Kent is nothing more than a mix between Terry Pendleton (who tripped over a career year & won an MVP over Bonds), and Bobby Bonilla (who made a career out of batting behind or ahead of Bonds). He has no other HOF credentials besides that. The fact that he has the most HR as a 2B doesn't mean shit. Does that mean we should instantly vote in the guy with the most HR's as a DH too?
