Rick Neuheisel named new UCLA head coach

If he stuck around he may have gotten Billick's job.

My take, the Ravens gave him rave reviews so that they wouldn't have to contend with him wanting to be the new coach.

He and Bellichek could have matched wits on stealings signs, players, cars, the other teams footballs or anything else the slickster could have thought of.

I honestly cannot understand how one person could single handedly take down 2 great programs. I don't think I could do it if I tried.

I could, I'd hire Charlie Weiss at one and Rick Neuheisel at the other.:wink2:

Heard on eSpin, I think it was Mike Fowler (could have been Rece Davis) that according to Neuweasel there is only going to be two rules at UCLA
"1. win at all costs
2. have fun"
announcer added with Ricks reputation, he better have more than 2 rules. Could be a bumpy ride in Westwood. It should at least be good entertainment.

He used to stand in a prospect's front yard and call the prospect on a cell phone. He'd then tell the prospect to look out a window or come to the front porch. He'd claim that was only a telephone call and not an in-person contact.

He got Colorado put on probation because he and his staff committed over 50 recruiting violations.

That wins the title for most hilarious shady recruiting tactic ever.

Looks like someone got a call asking him to look out his window

Rick Neuheisel, hired as UCLA's coach last weekend, sat in the Rose Bowl watching USC roll up 49 points in a victory over Illinois on Tuesday.

A day later, he announced Bruins defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker will be retained with a raise in pay. Defensive line coach Todd Howard and linebacker coach Chuck Bullough will stay as well, bringing back the nucleus of a defensive staff that has held the Trojans to 33 points in two games.

ESPN - Source: UCLA hires Chow as offensive coordinator - College Football

Makes for quite an interesting matchup in November. Not to mention possible recruiting battles along the way.

It will be interesting for a year or two...or more interesting than it had been in the past....no actually it wont, SC will still dominate the Ruins

Skippy NeuWeasel will be fired within 5 years and Chow will be a head coach elsewhere in the pac-10

Forget about it -- Slick Rick is already rolling

LOS ANGELES -- Rick Neuheisel took the microphone about the same time he took the floor on Feb. 2 at Pauley Pavilion. As halftime shows go, it sure as heck beat gymnasts in tights trampoline dunking.

Lately, UCLA has needed a football program its storied basketball could be proud of, so why not turn carnival barker? And what better place to start than here, stoking this Battle for Los Angeles? Three hit men, ready to take back the city.

The picture ran on the wire. The video was posted on YouTube -- Neuheisel, the prodigal, flawed but welcome native son, flanked by offensive coordinator Norm Chow and defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker.

This wasn't a moment, it was a movie trailer.

Contd...

Ditch day angers Neuheisel - The Daily Breeze

Rather than continue the process of learning a new offense and working toward improvement, UCLA's football players, led by its senior class, elected to blow off Tuesday's practice.

It is a tradition that dates back to when Bruins coach Rick Neuheisel was a quarterback at UCLA, with players finishing stretching and getting in a huddle before running to the east side of Spaulding Field to jump over the seven-foot high fence.

Neuheisel admitted the tradition may be out-dated, and was termed "upset" by senior Logan Paulsen. Neuheisel was asked about the type of commitment this shows, knowing many of the top programs use practice time to get better, rather than ditch a two-hour work session.
