Rick Neuheisel named new UCLA head coach

Colorado and Washington still haven't recovered from their Neuhiesel eras. Not only did Colorado and Washington have poor on field results, Neuhiesel left them with NCAA trouble. In his current job, the Raven's offense is horrible. I'm at a complete loss why anyone would even want this proven cheat on their staff, no less running their program.

Neuhiesel = typhoid Mary.

Extended the courtesy because he's in the profession and an alum.

After having said that, if he has changed his attitude that his pooh is better than everyone else's and he doesn't hire his running buds as assisstant coaches. He could be real good. I think his last 2 college jobs have cut him down a notch or two in a very positive way.

Isn't Glen Mason at least as qualified as any of these guys? I've only heard his name mentioned in the rumor mill for one crappy job (was it Arkansas or Texas A&M?), and I wonder why his name doesn't come up more. He won a lot of games at weak schools; I'd like to see what he could do with more talent.

I just can't believe UCLA is having a hard time finding an excellent football coach. I have not read this entire forum but is there something going on out there that no one would take the job. I would think that it would be one of the premium jobs in the country. Fertile recruiting, excellent facilities (?), nice weather, good education, and the girls from USC.:)

The circus continues :slappy:

LA Daily News - UCLA could make coaching hire in next few days

While Guerrero could interview at least one more candidate, the dichotomy between Neuheisel and Walker could go a long way if UCLA chooses between the two.

Guerrero said in his press conference he preferred a coach with head coaching experience. Neuheisel provides that, but Walker does not.

However, Walker has the support of the current players and a top-5 recruiting class, many of whom are threatening to decommit to UCLA if Walker does not remain with the school.
Al Golden withdraws name from UCLA coaching search, will stay at Temple - International Herald Tribune

Temple coach Al Golden withdrew his name from consideration for the opening at UCLA and will remain with the Owls.

Golden, 5-19 in his first two years at Temple, interviewed twice for the job that opened after the Bruins fired Karl Dorrell.

In a statement from Temple on Wednesday, Golden said he was "flattered" to have been contacted by UCLA, but instead looked forward to a bright future at Temple.
