Rick Neuheisel named new UCLA head coach

UCLA football players' ditch day gets a harsh reaction - Los Angeles Times

Meanwhile, coaches from La Palma Kennedy High, who had come to Westwood to see practice, left shaking their heads.

"I guess that's why they're in the Lay's Potato Chips Bowl every year," said Chris Pascal, Kennedy's freshman coach.

Coaches from Encino Crespi High also left with a vivid impression.

"Let me put it this way, they wouldn't have done that at Fresno State," said Coach Jeremiah Ross, a former Fresno State player.

Pascal said he and other coaches had yet to receive an explanation or apology from UCLA as of Wednesday afternoon even though they were required to leave their e-mail addresses when they signed in before practice.

"They had recruits there, and can you imagine what they think after being driven there and being sent back onto the freeway at 5 p.m.?" Pascal said. "The four of us were standing there for a half-hour, someone could have said something. On the way home we thought about going over to USC because we knew they would be on the practice field."

UCLA's Rick Neuheisel rebuts Ken Norton's claim

Bruins' head coach denies the USC assistant's accusation that Bruins have told recruits he might join UCLA's staff.

By Chris Foster and Gary Klein
December 30, 2008

UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel on Monday denied accusations made a day earlier by USC assistant Ken Norton that the Bruins were using bait-and-switch tactics on football recruits.

Norton, the Trojans' linebackers coach and an All-American linebacker at UCLA in the 1980s, said in an interview with The Times on Sunday that the Bruins were trying to lure recruits by telling them he would join the UCLA staff if defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker were to take another job.

Tweet from UCLA player's account uses racial epithet for Norm Chow -- latimes.com

A message sent from the Twitter account of a UCLA freshman football player to a top high school recruit complained about Bruins offensive coordinator Norm Chow and referred to him with a racial epithet.

:slappy:I don't know what's funnier, that Carroll would tell this to a recruit or that he actually thinks ucla had a chance of beating Oreogn, Stanford, and Cal.

So if twitter was around 3 or 4 years ago, Reggie Bush could have used it to send tweets to Joe McKnight without it being against NCAA rules?

Or that the Tweeter used the term "nigga" to refer to Norm Chow. :wink2:
