Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

Im wondering why WVU fans still care. It has been almost 2 years since he left, let it go.

How long has it been since Harbaugh made his statements? That hasn't exactly been let go of by the faithful up there even when they clearly have bigger issues facing them.

RR is Judas to the WVU community, they'll never let it go anymore than OSU, scUM or any other program would let it go if it happened to them.

How do you know it has not been let go by the faithful "up there"?

If DickRod had miraculously come in to aa, won a bunch of games, then departed to the NFL or something, he'd be public enemy number one. Stop acting like this is something unusual. Jax makes a good point about Harbaugh...he's still vilified by a large number of folks for simply pointing out what everybody knew. Then there's also a sizeable faction of your fans that continue to throw Carr under the bus for "leaving the cupboard bare".

Because he left like a slime-ball, shredding players' training documents, talking to Pryor before his own players and whatnot. It was just a year after he negotiated a sweeter new deal and proclaimed his lifelong love and stability for the job.

Know anyone who went through a messy divorce? They loved him. Now, well, they want to kill him. They'd burn the hair in their nether regions before having one ounce of compassion for him. I'm willing to bet that anyone who wears Ohio State gear into their stadium during a game will get positive comments from their fans.

Bottom line: They hate TSUN almost as much as Ohio State fans because they hired this guy and because of the way they did it.

Keep in mind that it's not just like RR went to WVU, turned them into a great program, and then abandoned them. That would be understandable.

RR went to WVU, had a great deal of success, and then consistently held WVU hostage for more and more money, promising he'd stay. They cancelled other sports--varsity athletes couldn't play anymore--because he wanted a higher salary and better equipment. Such a deal is acceptable if you're planning on staying for 5 more years, and the school can actually cash in on your success via ticket sales.

But, no, he left for greener pastures after leaving WVU out to dry, and then on top of it, tried to get out of his buyout money, further screwing them over. Luckily, of course, he failed.

But I think you can see why people might not be overjoyed with the guy.

Jack Nicklaus became the greatest golfer of all time by building up his competitors.

It's a paradox, but a strong TSUN is in the interest of Ohio State. As long as they languish like this, the Big Ten will have this rep of "the new MAC". Just read the report of the Illinois and UC game. There is no mention that Illinois had one of its best offensive showings of the year, the Illini special teams meltdown, or the gifts from the refs. Instead, the Illini are portrayed as seeing an offense that was faster than anything they had seen all year. Personally, I am sick of it.

Wishing for TSUN to be weaker than Ohio State is one thing. In my mind, it is the natural order of things. But RichRod is taking TSUN to a "whole 'nother level of suckitude".

Think about this scenario. Next year, we are in a tight race for the BCS title game. We play a six loss TSUN game at home. They play their game of the year, as always, and we win by ten points. Ohio State fans are happy until they realize that the computers crucify us for the drop in SOS due to playing them. Ohio State's undefeated team misses out on a NC game because the computers penalize a win over a very weak opponent that ends the regular season and their effect on the computer power ranking (actually their score) of every other Big Ten opponent we played.

Ohio State's chances of getting into a national championship game will be enhanced if TSUN win every game but The Game every year.
