Rich Rodriguez (official thread of last laughs)

1. Nice straw man. I didn't say Bill Martin is the same as Nevada. It was an example to show why that line of thinking is dangerous.
2. Again, you miss the point of the example. Consistent is fine and dandy...unless it's negatively consistent. It looks like Dick Rod is consistently an asshole....but at least he's consistent, right?
3. I guess I get to use your argument for #1 then. Grad21 said he's done a lot of things at WVU that he can't get away with at Michigan. Just because the world doesn't know about them doesn't mean they didn't happen. I trust Grad, so that makes this a perfect supporting statement.
4. OOOOOOOOK? What's the point of listing these guys? They're all as shady as good ol' Dick Rod? I still don't get it.
Shadier. Much much much much shadier. RR looks like St. Peter compared to those guys. O'Leary got fired for it. Franchione got fired for it. Sherrill got fired for it and his programs got punished for it. Switzer got fired and got his program punished too. Neuheisel got fired twice for it.

The line of thinking re: Martin is far less dangerous the more official the source. A fellow poster on a message board is not a working analogy to the insiderest of the insiders. No offense to Grad either - I have seen him refer to some of the stuff you're talking about - but he is also a poster on a message board and for me to believe it I'd have to see some concrete stuff. Otherwise I'll continue to believe the official word, which is silent as a churchmouse.

And even if he did run a filthy dirty program, but can't get away with it at Michigan....GREAT. Where's the problem, then?

jesus christ. OK fine. I'm now a Barry Switzer fan from when he was being a scumbag at Oklahoma. Somebody comes up to me and says he's a shady prick who is going to give the program a black eye. I say to them, nuh uh.....I trust whoever the fuck his boss is, he wouldn't let me down!

Guess what....it still happened.

Or, you're an Ohio State fan whose team just hired a mostly unknown quantity that had a brush or two with booster issues at a I-AA(!) school, and now just recruited the world's biggest headache who likes to leave guns in cars he got from boosters, and drink vodka at practice. And people slam the coach and wonder what the hell OSU just got themselves into, only the fans are saying, "just wait." And you did, and you can give a big ol' middle finger to the detractors.

Switzer, OTOH, was an assistant at OU for six or seven years and wouldn't ever have had the opportunity to show his rule breaking skills to the world. Rodriguez coached in one of the most backwater places in the college football world and didn't get in trouble. Ever. That counts for something.

You're forgetting one thing in your little extended metaphor we are OSU you are scUM don't try and compare your situation with ours. I mean honestly.

So all you're saying here is "just wait"? I certainly think not. I wasn't out there telling the world that Jim Tressel was the greatest coach in the history of CFB.

I also wasn't out there defending every single scummy move he made....but that's probably because he wasn't out there being a scumbag.

I'm really confused. Why exactly is HailtoMichigan here?

It's not as though he is going to persuade any of the Buckeye fans here that Rich Rodriguez is anything other than a backwoods Rasputin, so what is his point? He must like pissing into tornados, too.

I wouldn't go that far. I argue with him a lot but I'm glad that he can be here and feel free enough to post his opinions. When this site stops letting visiting fans post what they want in a civil manner, then it will start going down hill.

I don't dispute his right to do so. I just think he is engaging in a particularly futile exercise.

1) Tressel's "booster issues" came from a felon under trial who was proven to have no dealing with Tressel at all.

2) You think Tressel knew that Clarett would turn out like he did? You act like Clarett was pulling that shit while Tresel was recruiting him. Drinking vodka at practice? Care to fabricate more shit?

Your leash here is starting to get short...

He's probably referring to his short stint in Denver.

Mo Clarett did drink during practice and weight-lifting sessions while in Denver. Where do you think "getting your goose on" came from?

He had reportedly been drinking during practice when this episode happened.

Far from Tressels fault though...plus Tressel hasn't been called out by any former players with exception to Maurice. Pat White, Darius Reynaud, and multiple others have come out and said very negative things about Rodriguez. Tressel and his lawyers never compared his contract to Southern slavery. Tressel and an assistant coach never fabricated/made up a story to get leverage on any schools and ruin a professional mans life in turn. Tressel doesn't embarass and strip down players to make a point. GM's speak glowingly of tOSU during the draft (Mike Tannebaum of the Jets had very nice things to say). GM's know little about Rich becuase he doesn't get players drafted.
