You could always just add more vbets. That at least gives everyone 25 more at a time. The biggest problem, if it really is one, is that the long term bets take months sometimes to pay out and so do some of the short term bets for whatever reason. Its fun the way it is. If you can find ways to contribute to BP and receive more vmoney then more power to you.

What the vf#ck are you vtalking about VOh8ch? I've busted my vass all this time to vbuild this nice little vnest vegg and your vdemocratic, vpansy vass, vliberal vleanings want to vtake all my vearnings away. How in the vhell am I vsupposed to vsupport myself at vretirement? Vsocial vsecurity vsure won't be vthere.

Oh, do whatever the vhell you vwant to. I was going to vbuy everyone vsubcriptions to other vsites for vChristmas, but I vguess everyone will get vcoal in their vstockings now. Heck, I even had a vdate for BrutusMaximus and vJessica Alba all vset.

Great to hear about all this C-Dog. With the current scenario you can only reset the entire system so none of the suggestios about giving people x amount of cash or other manipulations will work.

If we are going to a new system I think it is a bit much to talk about doing extra work to transfer existing balances over. Shit happens and this would be one of those times. I just didn't want to do it for no reason other than to placate a bunch of compulsive whiners with no impulse control and little concept of football (if your vCash balance is below $50 I am talking about you).

My only concern would be with existing bets. In fact that is why I brought this up now. I was ready to start a few season long books and don't want to disrupt things in the middle.

From that perspective and if 1) we are not going to carry forward existing balances (my recommendation if it involves any manual effort at all) and 2) the new cash system will not be ready before the season starts, I would recommend the following.

Do something to acknowledge those who have built up significant balances.
Reset everyone to $500 now.
Run throgh the season without further changes.
Do something to acknowledge those who have once again grown their vCash.
Install the new system prior to the Bowl Games.

The book software isn't really changing at all, beyond the changes needed to make it compatible with vb3.5.0. So any events you set up now, before, or any time until we switch over, *will* carry over to the new system.

I hope to have everything done before the season starts. As the back end for our 'cash' is the only thing related to this functionality that's going to be completely new and different, the only question will be what does everyone start with.

Until I actually get in there and start tossing queries at the database (can't until the other machine is reworked), I won't know for sure what's practical. At the end of the day, this may all be as simple as telling it to copy one table into another. If that's true, then I'll start the season with my whopping $103.00 (thanks for making the "clueless" cutoff over $50, thank you Lance Armstrong!) :biggrin:

Clarity:

What are vtalking about? There is vnothing wrong with this vsite. Why would you vwant to vchange vanything?

I could care less about how much I have with a new switchover. As I have said many times before and will continue, this site is the best!!! It sounds like you continue to have a tremendous vision for the site and I know you, and the other mods and adminstrators, will never make any changes that are detrimental to it.

PS - I was going to vbuy Tibor a new vsheep, but that will have to vwait. :wink2:

Maybe we can reset teh vguido loan to 100 vcash for a week or two, let everyone with 100 or less bet on some lame thing to get ot zero and have them reimbursed a little more one time.

If you can't afford to lose it.. don't bet.

And how exactly did you magically get back up to 3000? Gwaltney's beneficial odds? I tried checking, but it takes forever to pull up the archived bets.

100 every week or so would be good. Its pretty hard to climb out of the hole of having 25.

100 a week? The vGovernment can't afford to give out that kind of vwelfare. Do you think we are made of vGold? I would be ok with resetting everyone who is under 500 back to 500 as long as you let me know when the reset is ahead of time and have a good either or bet for me to launder my vmoney in for the reset. :wink:

AK had some really good olds on the golf outing because some idiot set the odds of them winning at 10 to 1. :2004:

It's not terribly difficult. When a lot of bets are being created, just lay the 25 right away, and you get a new v25 for the next vBet. I'm at zero (mostly due to Gwaltney), but I've got the potential of having a lot of money by the end of the season.

The key is to bet that v25 as soon as the bet appears, so you get another v25 when the next one is created.

Those who are vBroke have nobody to blame but themselves.

the vcash and rumormill are my two favorite things on BP. You wouldn't want to reset any because down the road people are going to want to know who's opinion to bet with and vcash is the standard.
How about some type of 500 amnesty event. Anyone over v500 is ineligible.
