Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

In a game that was scoreless going into the bottom of the 7th. Most of it was with 2 outs.

Baseball is a crazy game.

See the Pirates 4th inning tonight against Miami. Batted around and scored 4 runs without a hit.

Even Chris Welsh is flustered by that tardness.

Bruce on second, Ludwick on first with two outs, and the catcher throws behind Bruce and he gets picked off. :shake:

Chapman coming on to try to close it out.

They win again but it's pretty clear they are the dumbest baserunning team in the NL if not all of baseball.

I know Duhsty gets lauded for his aggressive, small ball, old school first to third attitude but why he doesn't get called out for the consistent brain dead inning killing mental error bullshit is beyond me.

Giving away outs is not the way to help a middling offensive team score more runs.

Seeing on Twitter (no source yet) that Daugherty is reporting the Reds declined a straight-up swap of Ondrusek for Victorino. Sounds like Walt's holding out for the Phils to eat some of the contract.

Report in the Boston Globe also mentions that KC is looking for pitching and Alex Gordon may be on the market.

I really hope they get someone better than Victorino. He is brutal vs. right handers (in other words, when he bats left), so he is not the left handed bat this team needs. His defense is mediocre. He is a free agent at the end of the year. He is better than Stubbs, but not by much. I would rather them keep Ondrusek.

...and he's making $9.5 million this year.

At first I was like, "Victorino, yeah, go get him!" The more I find out about him though, the less I like the idea.

Meanwhile, RedsZone is probably excited now. They've had a boner for Alex Gordon forever. As we speak somebody is probably typing a post that says, "Cueto, Bruce, Chapman and any two minor leaguers might get it done."

I can agree with that. If Walt's picking over the Phillies roster, I'd much rather take Hunter Pence.

Alex Gordon is interesting though because he's 28 and under team control through 2015 with an option year at $12.5m in 2016. Making $6m this season coming off .303/.376/.502 w/ a gold glove in 2011. He would absolutely rake in GABP.
