Reds Tidbits (2012 Season)

Platoon him and Stubbs. It's always important to have a guy who can give you a feeble out from either side of the plate.

At least, since we all know Dusty likes to separate the Lefties, with a Stubbs/Ankiel platoon, half of the time you wont have a sub .300 OBP guy hitting in front of Votto. I suppose Dusty could always hit Ankiel leadoff and Cozart 2nd though...

Which half?

Ankiel has posted a lower OBP than Stubbs every single year that Stubbs has been a big leaguer. His career OBP is lower too. I'm as sick of Drew Stubbs as anybody, but giving any portion of his playing time to Ankiel woild be a step backwards.

You hit it on the head. The StuAnk platoon would always lead off because they play CF and run fast. The Duhsty isn't concerned with sub.300 OBP's dude.

This. It almost defies comprehension but in Ankiel you have someone who is more stubbtastic than Stubbs.

Walt giving them both to Dusty to work into a MLB lineup is like giving a small child a loaded nickel plated .357 magnum. Something terrible will happen because the child just can't help itself and when it's all over we'll wish the adult who gave it was the one shot.
