10 Best things about being a Reds fan

outside of this, I like this guy's list

1. Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto. Technically they are two people and thus things that are cool about being a Reds fan, but if that was your first reaction stop reading this and go back to doing whatever people who were hall monitors do when they become adults.

well, lets hope if they fuck it up that means Dumb Fucking Baker gets taken out behind the stadium and beaten to near death by that crazy baseball gang from the movie 'The Warriors'...or, at the very least, fired.

So as of right now the Opening day roster will look like:

1B-Votto
2B-Phillips
SS-Cozart
3B- Rolen/Frazier
LF-Heisey
CF-Stubbs
RF-Bruce

Starting rotation
1.Cueto
2.Latos
3.Arroyo
4.Leake
5.Chapman or Bailey

Bullpen
Arredondo
Ondrusek
LeCure

7th-Marshall
8th-Massett
9th-Madson

Anything I'm missing?

Bailey will start in rotation, I just don't see Chapman starting til sometime in AAA

also Catcher

Beginning of season:
1)Hannigan
2)Mesoraco

Mid-End:
1)Mesoraco
2)Hanigan

also I think Ludwick and Heisey will split time in LF

Replace Frazier with Francisco.

You left out Bill Bray. You were short a bullpen arm anyway, there's no way they go with anything less than a 12-man pitching staff.

Ondrusek is the 12th man in that bullpen, and it could be somebody else in that spot when camp breaks based on spring performance and/or business reasons. Ondrusek still has options and can be stashed in AAA rather than having to put somebody like Josh Judy or Andrew Brackman on waivers.

Marshall is the 8th inning guy, not Masset. Marshall is probably the highest leverage arm in the pen and has (statistically speaking) been the best reliever in baseball over the last two years. He has excellent splits against righties and lefties, and the presence of Bray means he doesn't have to be used as a LOOGY.

As for the rotation, I think Latos is the #1, but that Cueto will start opening day because he is tenured. I think Arroyo is the true #5. I think if he continues to suck he will find his way to the bullpen since his contract means the Reds are stuck with him. If that happens, it could be any one of Chapman, Francis or Tomko moving into that spot, depending on who ends up in L'ville any how well Chapman does at re-education camp. The only way Bailey is not in the rotation is if (when) he is hurt or if he is traded. Everything I've read says that he is not a good bullpen candidate. Since the Reds brought him up way too early he is now out of options, and there's no way in hell he is just waived.

Brett Tomko is back with the Reds. Huh.

Yeah, I'm not exactly thrilled with the prospect of him pitching for the Reds at any time this year. I would think that until further notice, Jeff Francis is the #6 starting pitcher. It's funny with some of those former big leaguers who sign a minor league contracts though - if they mildly impress but don't head north with the club sometimes they can opt out or ask for their release.

I think it will be a miracle if Chapman is ready to enter the rotation any time before the second half of the season. I hope he isn't needed, really.

Well, I don't know if this had come out yet when I posted, but the ticker on ESPN right now that Duh-sty has indeed named Cueto the starter for Opening Day. I still think Latos will be the #1 guy, but it's a well-deserved honor for Cueto (unlike the starter that was named for last year's opener.)
