Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

This team will only go as far as Teh Dusty allows it to. Plain and simple. Throw all your stats out all you want. This team is better than what they've been showing. And it's partly (maybe majorly) due to Teh DERP Dust.

You guys crack me up. Since when does any stat ever mean more than the W's and L's? Thats right, NEVER.

And just to clarify, I never said "oh no, a lefty." I said "oh no, David Price." There are regular lefties and there are great lefties. David Price is a fucking stud. Period.

You can say anything you want about OPS and Beane Ball and Sabermetrics and all of that nerdy bullshit. Doesnt mean a damn thing if the guy on the mound is sitting you back down.

But he's pitching against the Reds, on the road, and he's a lefty.

You made a point of saying he is a lefty. The Reds have been hitting lefties well the last year and a half.

and when it comes to separating out the arm in which the pitcher pitches with, yes, stats do matter. The Reds have not struggled with lefties.

Statistics in baseball are very, very important especially prior to a ballgame. There is a reason they are so heavily used. So feel free to throw out whatever you care about, but the fact is you made a point of stating he is left handed, and I showed you the Reds have hit left handers well this year. That is all there is to it.

HE. Not God in this case but the pronoun used to describe, David Price. Sorry I guess I should have used a name only.

Stats are great for Fantasy Baseball and speculating if every person did exactly what they always do everytime. I prefer to verify the real thing when they play.

Any undisciplined bunch of hacks like the Reds prove to be more often than not, will not fare well vs a power pitcher like David Price, whom also is a lefty. :wink2:

I want the Reds to win. I bet real money on the Under in this game. I'm going to get one or the other unless gascan comes in and allows 5 runs later on. I would rather get both but I dont see it happening.

So you just randomly throw in personal traits about a guy? You stated he is a lefty just because? No reason behind it?

Stats are pretty useful for real baseball too. That's why they've been keeping them for well over a century, long before fantasy baseball was ever conceived.

True, but at least Rolen made him throw 9 pitches. The way Price is dealing tonight it appears our only hope is get him out in time to try to hit the bullpen some. After Rolen's AB he is at 90 through 6.

Yeah, but they will let him throw 120+ (he threw 120 pitches his last time out). Although his fast ball was a little slower recently. 94-96 instead of 96-98.

I don't think the Reds are going to chase him on pitch count alone. Kelch and Welsh have talked ad nauseum about how the Rays have been using Price for high pitch counts in nearly all of his starts. I think they're going to have to find a way to squeeze out at least one run against him before they consider going to the 'pen.
