Reds tidbits (2010 season)

Reds are trying to hang on after another comeback today against Halladay. Jay Bruce hit a 2-run homer off him to give them a 4-3 lead. Votto also had another homer today.

It would be a nice bounceback if they can finish it.

EDIT: nice win today.

Halladay touched up for 4 runs on 13 hits.

Ondrusek, Rhodes, and Cordero go 2-2/3 giving up just one hit. Nice way to close the series and bounce back after last night.

Harang gives up a 3-run HR to Dane Sardinha (!), Roy Halladay pitches a complete game, but the Reds still win. That's free money.

big win reds! wish the Dbacks didn't suck so much or we'd still have the lead

The plus - this is the last time the Cardinals play the Dbacks, and the Reds have seven games with the Dbacks in the 2nd half of the season (with Haren hopefully gone). Of course thanks to MLB's screwed up scheduling the Cardinals played the Dbacks 9 times vs. the Reds 7. Although it's not all in St. Louis' favor, the Reds got Cleveland while the Cards got Toronto in interleague play.

The Reds got Cleveland TWICE while the Cards got Toronto & the Angels, if you take away the three common opponents.

Reds:
@Cleveland
Kansas City
@Seattle
@Oakland
Cleveland

Cardinals:
LA Angels
Seattle
Oakland
@Toronto
@Kansas City

BTW, the Cardinals first 14 games after the break are 4 vs Dodgers, 4 vs Philly, 3 @ Cubs, and 3 @ Mets. Meanwhile, the Reds will be playing Colorado, Washington, Houston, and Milwaukee.

The Reds would be in good shape if they play well on this current stretch and keep close or pull back ahead of St Louis entering the break. Hopefully the Phillies get all their good players back and trade for Cliff Lee (again) right after the Reds leave town, and not a day before.

Herrera optioned to Louisville to make room for Travis Wood.

Chapman gave up four runs, hit two batters and threw two wild pitches in 1-2/3 innings of relief last night.

Votto's consecutive games reaching base streak is up to 38.
