Reds tidbits (2010 season)

Speaking as a bitter and broken Orioles fan, you guys should just enjoy the ride while its' going.

Besides, I thought this team was going to be .500 at best and look, at the 1st of July you're 9 games up on .500 AND you'll be catching some teams as they quit/collapse in the 2nd half. If they tread water to the All Star break, they start a long homestand that really lets the schedule soften a bit.

I'd gladly switch with you Jax. Any day of the week. Of course that would mean that Angelos would look competent and we can't have that.

Chapman gave up four runs, hit two batters and threw two wild pitches in 1-2/3 innings of relief last night.

I have stated it all along....putting Chapman in the bullpen is stupid. Just when I think this organization bought a clue, they go and do something idiotic like that. He is still learning to throw multiple pitches for strikes, how to prepare for games, how to manage a ballgame, etc. Now they rush him to the bullpen in hopes he might do some good this year in the majors. They are screwing with the kid instead of getting a proven major league reliever. Why? So they can save a few dollars and a worthless minor leaguer. Just stupid.

Another genius move by Dusty....hit and run with Gomes at first and Stubbs at bat. Middle of the road speed and a guy that has trouble making contact. Who would have guessed it would lead to Gomes getting caught stealing?

I sometimes wonder if Dusty has had a series of strokes. No man with a functional brain can make those types of decisions.

I don't think it was horrible decision because Stubbs is struggling and usually hit and runs can help get that player to swing the bat later. If it worked it would be genius, if it didnt work which it didn't it was dumb.

If it worked it would have been luck. I am sorry, but hit and runs do not help hitters. If that was the case just tell every struggling hitter "ok, on this next pitch you have to swing no matter what...oh, and pretend the ss or 2b baseman is moving. Make that random." Plus you don't start playing games with hitters in 1 run ballgames. It was a terrible call no matter how you want to spin it. A mediocre runner and one of the worst contact hitters in baseball is not a combination that says "hit and run is a good idea."

As long as they're being aggressive and keeping pressure on the defense, it's a productive out.

Damn. Reds load the bases in the 9th against Marmol with one out and Cabrera and Votto go down swinging to end the inning. Opportunity wasted.

13 hits and 2 God damn runs. That's all we got is 2 God damn runs?!

Missed the game this afternoon at work, but I'm watching the replay on FSN out of the corner of my eye and noticed that was a hell of a slide by Bruce to break up the DP in the 10th and score Cairo.
