Ugh, the Braves are already up 4-0. Unless the Giants fold, get ready for the Phillies.

I wasn't too happy about the prospect of the Phils... especially since I have NLCS tix but not NLDS. However, I'd rather get Philly in a short series. We have a better shot at getting to them in 5 than 7.

I don't see it that way at all.

In a 5 game series you're going to see Halladay two times and Hamels two times with Oswalt going the other time. At least the Reds have hammered Oswalt this year, but they won't see anyone other than those three in a short series. In a 7 game series, the Reds would also probably see Joe Blanton and maybe Moyer depending on how their rotation rolls over.

The Phillies just aren't a good matchup at all for the Reds. The Giants would be MUCH better - after that stupid hippie pitches, Matt Cain doesn't get near the run support and Barry Zito is a flake in the playoffs anyway.

17 strikeouts, awesome, makes me really excited about facing those scrubs of holliday and oswalt and hamels

Not a done deal yet. The Padres are only 1 game back in the wild card. Of course I don't see them winning the next two or Atlanta losing the next two. Yet you never know.

They could tie, correct? And then 1 game playoff for the wild card. I see that as more likely. 1 game is always a crap shoot.

Yes, they could tie. Yet it would take either Atlanta losing 2 or the Padres winning 2 for that to happen. I was saying I didn't see either happening.

What would be crazy is if the Padres win the next 2, and Atlanta wins 1. Then the Padres would play the Giants for the division in a 1 game playoff, and the loser would then play the Braves for the wild card.

and when the padres win that game in about 37 innings I'll be very happy

EDIT
never mind we wouldn't get them anyway, its the Giants we'd want wore out.

Philly is beatable. We have played them extremely tough this season. We won the series at GABP and lost three games in extras, including back-to-back 1-0 games right before the all-star break. I wonder what the rotation is going to look like for the playoffs. Gotta think Cueto will get the start in Game 1 since Volquez is scheduled to pitch Sunday.
