Reds tidbits (2010 season)

One very terrible inning and thats all it took. The rook seems to be hitting the wall, which is expected. How he's handled from now on is what is going to make or break him as a starting pitcher, imo. I dont like our history in this situation though.

We lost one today. Tough loss no doubt, but it was against Carpenter and we thought coming in it would take something special to beat him. Didnt happen. What I did like is that they didnt pack it in like the very well could have and battled back again. They arent the smartest players in the league we know that but they are showing some mettle and I like that.

Tomorrow is another day. We are still in first place. No matter what happens on Wednesday, if we win tomorrow we still leave this series in first. Its nearing the middle of August and I'm still saying that. I'll take it.

The encouraging part was that they won the other eight innings. Small consolation, I know.

The Reds are 7-2 in their last nine games, and could very well be on a 9-game winning streak if Mike Leake could keep from giving up 6+ runs in an inning.

It's time to shut him down for the year. Get Bailey on schedule to take his spot on Saturday.

Yep. Leake needs to be in the minors for 20 days anyway to add a year to his free agency time line. Let him pitch in AAA for a couple of starts to get to his innings milestone and shut him down. At this point he is not adding anything Bailey can't do.

Just saw this from Phillips on Hal's blog:

Phillips fouled a ball off his shin Saturday in Chicago and missed Sunday?s game. But he was in Monday?s linekup and said, ?I?d play against these guys with one leg. We have to beat these guys. I hate the Cardinals. All they do is bitch and moan about everything, all of them, they?re little bitches, all of ?em. I really hate the Cardinals. Compared to the Cardinals, I love the Chicago Cubs. Let me make this clear - I hate the Cardinals.?

I like him a little better now.
