Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

Harang "induces" the DP from Soto: Gonzalez to Phillips to Votto.

Harang's PC stands at 96. Does he come out for the 8th? Weathers pitched last night, Rhodes the night before that, and Burton doesn't need to make an appearance just because he's already been criminally overused.

Votto. Solo shot.

Think he ever says anything to Soto when he digs in at that plate? Something like, "Hey fuckstick, are you polishing my Rookie of the Year Trophy every night?"

Another hit for Votto. Save some for later, boys.
I would say Votto's a fantasy stud with a line that includes 4-for-5, 1 R, 2 RBI, 1 HR, 9 TB, but the fact is this is the second game in a week which he has broken open to make a 3R lead a 4 or 5R lead, costing me the save opp since I have Cordero.

So I have a love/hate relationship with Votto going right now. :tongue2:

Masset finishes the 9th, Reds win 7-1, taking 2 of 3 from the Cubs for the series, and going 7-3 on the road trip against the NL Central overall.

I still don't fucking believe it.

The overall standings are pretty damn telling when you look at run differential. It is almost split perfectly with the top 14 teams being + and the other 16 being -, with 2 exceptions.. the Yankees are 9-6 despite being -13, and then, of course, there's the Reds at -6. I concede that if this number doesn't continue to grow into the green for the Reds, .500 would be an accomplishment. I do think that this 7-3 trip shows the young pups that they belong in the bigs, and hopefully this club stays hot. Not necessarily long winning streaks, but taking 3 series in a row is very nice... 4, 5, or 6 would be great. We'll see how it goes..
