Reds Tidbits (2009 season)

I'm going to be honest again, in hopes that it causes a reverse psychology with the Reds, and gets them on a bit of a winning streak like the last time I bashed them.

I watched a bit of the game last night and the announcers kept talking about how this team was at 500 and they haven't started hitting yet. Hello, have they looked at the lineup, I think this is what we can expect from this punching Judy lineup this year. The Reds only have a couple of big league hitters in this lineup, if the pitching staff can keep them in games, then they'll win their share, otherwise.........

I really like Rosales...

He is just a smart ball player, hard worker, that brings energy to the team...

He is not a big power guy in the middle of the lineup that we need, but just watching him in at bat dwarf what Alex Gonzalez or BPhil do at the plate, is just a breath of fresh air...

And I know this may be a crazy thought, and I don't know of any names at the time being, but we could contend for a playoff spot if we could put a RH bat in LF and ever get guys going...

Rosales looked good, which begs the question, what the hell do the Reds do with E5? Rosales is already a fan favorite, so you know E5 is going to get booed mercilessly when he comes back.

For that matter, I wonder what the Reds do with a kid like Yonder Alonso, because 1B is occupied for the next 15 years as far as I'm concerned.

Great night for Volquez. Not only did he attack hitters more and trust his defense, but the Astros played right into his hands by not taking pitches and chasing him after five or six innings. That sinking fastball will never, ever be a strike if the batter doesn't swing, and the Astros hacked at it a lot, whereas the Braves avoided it like the plague in his previous start and forced him to labor through 40 extra wasted fastballs and 7 extra batters.

The Reds are off today, so their April ends a game over .500 and in a three-way tie for second place in the NL Central. That's not bad for this group.

Trade Yonder for a top C/SS/LF prospect. I hate to see talent like that leave the organization, but we already have a power hitting left handed 1Bman

Votto to LF, Yonder at 1B. Now you go solve SS and CF assuming we have the answer for 3B in house.

I saw Votto in the OF once... made Dunn look like a gold glover.

I saw him in the WBC and a few times in ST. He can play it well enough if he spends some time working on it.

Contrary to popular belief around the 'Nati, LF isn't a premium defensive position.
